The Roman Catholic Church has issued guidance for future priests to have psychological tests to weed out those unable to control their sexual urges.
A senior churchman said a series of sex scandals had contributed to the rewriting of the guidelines.
The authors said screening would help avoid "tragic situations" caused by what they termed psychological defects.
The guidance says the voluntary tests should also aim to vet for those with "deep-seated homosexual tendencies"..............

If it were not so sad and tragic, the RCC situation might best be described as absurd. They want "priests" to be normal, but the lifestyle of the clergy requires an abnormal celibacy. The biblical requirement for a bishop or deacon is that he be married with children that are well behaved. What makes for even more irony is the idea that the inexperienced clergy is expected to counsel normal couples before and after marriage.
The sodomite problem is another story. They definitely could provide more experience in that side of counselling, but I doubt if it would be helpful to the recipients.
The RCC always had a huge problem, but they did not seem to be all that concerned until it really hit them in the pocketbook. The whole origin of the celibacy requirement had to do with retaining material wealth for the RCC.

1 Timothy 4
1Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.
If a priest is exhibiting homosexual tendencies, it's not because they were there before hand, it's because they've been forbidden the natural use of the body by the authorities that are over them by forbidding marriage. We are encouraged to marry if we cannot control our sexual desires.
This is just one more thing that is wrong with the RCC.

This reminds me of something that Paul wrote:
"But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concuscipence. For without the law, sin is dead. For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died" (Romans 7: 8-9).
I guess that's a fancy way of saying that when you place too much emphasis on law, it drives you further into sin. If they sought justification by faith, instead of seeking to justify themselves by works, they wouldn't have half of these problems. By enforcing celibacy and other weird restraints, they've accelerated man's inclination to sin. :pray
