Ohhhh boy! Anyone else heard about this yet? :thinking

AUSTRALIA will join China in implementing mandatory censoring of the internet under plans put forward by the Federal Government.

The revelations emerge as US tech giants Google, Microsoft and Yahoo, and a coalition of human rights and other groups unveiled a code of conduct aimed at safeguarding online freedom of speech and privacy.

The government has declared it will not let internet users opt out of the proposed national internet filter.

The plan was first created as a way to combat child pronography and adult content, but could be extended to include controversial websites on euthanasia or anorexia.........

Whaaaaaaa?? :doh I pray they keep it aimed at child porn and those heinous things. Censorship is one of the slipperiest slopes of all slippery slopes though. I hope it doesn't go beyond this and turn into a suppression of free speech, free info, freedom in general.

I'm kinda glad they are censoring pornography, way too much of that, but i don't want them taking away my religious freedoms online. Like this board for one.

No doubt it is a test run for it's eventual use in censoring really radical ideas.... like Christianity. :ohno After the rapture I'm sure the one world government will move quickly to abolish access to Christian web sites. But I bet the pipeline to porn will be wide open in those days.

And so it starts! I'm in agreement I would like all porn off there too and I think they could do it and still preserve free speech and stuff but its the proverbial "give them an inch and they will take a mile" where does it stop, when the powers that be decide it offends them therefore its wrong. "Evil becomes good and good becomes evil in the sight of man" - Its also the another sure sign we are in the last tri-mester of the Endtimes - just which part is the question. And somehow I do think the election is like some line in the sand.

This is what the U.S. can look forward to if the liar is elected.

I agree with all of you guys...the porn needs to go. But I too am worried that this is only the beginning! I sure wouldn't want to be here during the tribulation! Things are going to get really bad...fast...after the rapture!

I've thought porn and child exploitation sites should be censored for a long time. As far as websites which promote suicide and anorexia, I don't mind them being censored either.

Sometimes I think we have to balance freedom of speech with public and child safety, and this is one of those areas where it needs to happen.

It starts with the stuff that everyone can agree should be banned - child porn, but that is only to get a foot in the door, it will soon be a ban on "hate speech" and anything anti-abortion or that dares to call homosexuality a sin, or anyone that would poison a child's mind with the anti-science of creation, anyone that would dare to call sin "SIN" will be labeled "hate speech" and subject to censorship since it is "illegal".

It begins...
