Obama's Transition Chief:
Bush's Executive Orders Under Review
...
The incoming administration is reviewing President Bush's executive orders on stem cell research, oil and gas drilling, and other matters, President-elect Barack Obama's transition chief said on Sunday.
John Podesta said the idea is that a president can use such orders to move quickly without waiting for Congress to act.
"I'm not going to preview decisions that he has yet to make. But I would say that as a candidate, Senator Obama said that he wanted all the Bush executive orders reviewed, and decide which ones should be kept, and which ones should be repealed, and which ones should be amended. And that process is going on. It's been undertaken," Podesta said in an appearance on FOX News Sunday.
"There's a lot that the president can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action, :shocked
and I think we'll see the president do that to try to restore the -- a sense that the country is working on behalf of the common good, that we're going to try to restore wages, give people the right kind of ways that they can build on their own lives, and when they work hard that they'll be rewarded for it," he continued.

Oh brother ... do I see a dictatorship in the making?
So much for the balance of power ... .
Hmmmm?
By passing Congress via Executive Order? :scratch

You can thank Dick Cheney, George Bush and Bill Clinton for the dictatorial powers given in these executive orders. I was alarmed when they were made. Even if I thought those men wouldn't abuse them (and I think they all would) what about the next president? Well now we know.
The Liberty quotes posted in another thread really hit home. Thanks to the two who posted all of them.
I have been reading but haven't posted in months. I was in a horrific motorcycle crash in early April. I have lost the use of my right arm from nerve damage and had over 30 breaks including neck and skull. Had a full face helmet and armoured jacket but when a pickup turns left directly in front of you it is going to be ugly. Typing one handed is slow but at least I still can Praise God.
I keep hoping Obama won't be as bad as I fear. We shall soon see.

Wow, R1200C, I'm glad you're still with us. Praying that God would effect a total healing for you!
I agree with your first paragraph - I was (and am) more worried about subsuquent presidents, and well, here we are - it's going to be very ugly.

Glad you're here with us R1200C:thumb
I'm not optimistic about anything that gets done from here on out. Actually, I stopped watching the election on tv and listening on the radio. It makes me angry if I let it.
My prayers and intentions will be to keep on the straight and narrow waiting on the Lord. Otherwise, it would be next to impossible to avoid the sin of anger--- wishing revenge and hurt on the corrupt in government.
Also, maybe now is a good time to pray for those folks who voted for Obama. I think many of them will soon become aware of the folly in voting for him. I think it's one thing to be a sinner getting deceived but when you're a Christian---then the guilt by association can be truly painful.

Yeah. I said in another thread that they're still on their honeymoon right now, but that at some point, they are going to come back to reality after some disillusionment, disappointment, or both.

I think his honeymooon just might end even before the inaugaration, reporters are saying things now that should have been said BEFORE election night.

The liberal media is flooring me right now. How can purportedly educated, well educated people think this way....AFTER the deed is done?
Hmmmm, perhaps the Lord worked His will by giving them disillusionment during the run-up to elections.

RC, welcome back. You have been missed and will be thanking the Lord for your survival and praying for more complete healing.
Your post really hit home as I just bought a big Gold Wing and starting to get on the road. Haven't really been on a bike in over 40 years, and never on the public roads. The bike is either invisible or a non-existent object to many 4 wheelers.
I agree.....our government doesn't even make an attempt to appear to represent the people.....and they haven't in years but its just getting worse and more blatant. I expect it to increase with the incoming administration.

President Bush made more Signing Statements (nearly 1200 or more) than the past 5 Presidents combined. It was a fulfillment of Cheney's long held unconstitutional views of Executive Branch power. O will now jump on this woeful precedent and use it to full advantage for his radicalized agenda
