The Polish president says US Vice President-elect Joe Biden told him the incoming administration will assess George W. Bush's missile defense plans before deciding whether to stick with them.

In a statement posted on his Web site, President Lech Kaczynski said that he was told by Biden in a phone call Monday that any decision President-elect Barack Obama makes "will depend on the assessment of a national security team, which at this time is being drawn up, as well as the effectiveness and the value of the project."
Obama said this year that the system would require much more vigorous testing to ensure it would work and justify the billions of dollars it would cost.

There was no immediate comment from Biden's office in the United States. A message left with his office by The Associated Press on Tuesday, a holiday, was not immediately returned.

I think Obama is going to find the Russians extremely difficult to deal with.

I am the last to pull the race card, but in this case I will. I doubt the Russians respect him because of his color.

I don't agree with Obama, but the recent cold shoulder given to him by Russia's president really concerned me. I have heard from many that Russia is not a friendly environment for Jews or people of color.

This is one area where I hope Bammy sticks it to them. I think he will have to in order to prove himself.

Of course the Europeans seem to be smitten with Obama, so maybe for once we will have a tough, united policy on Russia.

You've got that right! Imagine, poor Poland...thinking they have a done deal with protection from Russia. And Biden mentions "cost", and kinda "we'll get back with ya". :doh

I wonder what this new administration considers a "fair dollar price" for freedom? Chamberlain thought a piece of paper was all it was worth.

Also...a History refresher course would be a good start for the new admin, it was the invasion of Poland by Germany and the USSR that started off WWII.

But the liberals tend to rewrite history in their own minds, or not learn from the past.

Just wait till Europe looks to the U.S. for defense help as they ALWAYS do ... Europe is more on Obama's wave length ... Europe has taken the U.S. for granted on issues of war ... that is going away ... . Obama wants to cut back and destroy what we have for defense ... . From his perspective it's too expensive to be able to defend ourselves ... . He wants to use diplomacy ... as if others haven't tried this ... but maybe Obama will dazzle them with his charm ... and we will all be at peace with one another. Terrorists will become honorable and accept us too because whether this is so or not,

CHANGE IS ON THE WAY!
