The Detroit City Council passed a resolution today calling for a $10-billion bailout for the city of Detroit.
Council President Pro Tem JoAnn Watson sponsored the resolution to use the money for public service employment, to fund mass transit plans and to place a moratorium on home foreclosures for two years.
The resolution specifically requests the council meet with Mayor Ken Cockrel Jr., Gov. Jennifer Granholm, the state’s congressional delegation, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and officials from President George W. Bush’s office and President-Elect Barack Obama’s transition team...........

See what all this started? The Cities, The States, Auto Industry... We're now learning that the Bank bailout has been mismanaged, was thrown together too quickly without any provision for oversight, and isn't shaping up for anything close to a long-term benefit. It was a terrible precedent that has now opened the flood gate. Our system, or the remnants thereof, is going down like a lead balloon.

The problem with giving this money to Detroit is that it is rife with corruption. For sure Detroit needs financial assistance, but I'm so wary of their leadership. Ken Cockrel, the temporary mayor does seem like a good guy but the president of the city council, Monica Conyers has got to go...she is one bad egg!

Add Jennifer Granhoser to that list. The only bad thing is, we don't need her to go to an Obama administration.

Does this mean you can buy a house in Detroit, not pay on it and be able to live there anyway for the next two years?
In all seriousness, how can they moratorium on foreclosures?
