Powdery Envelope Shuts Down Westwood Mormon Temple
LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Mormon Temple in Westwood was closed Thursday afternoon after an enveloped filled with an unidentified white powdery substance was delivered to temple employees, police said.
A hazardous-materials team was sent to the temple at Santa Monica and Overland boulevards at around 3:30 p.m. The temple has recently been the target of protests by opponents of Proposition 8, Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Richard French said.
The FBI was also on the scene.

As stated in another Post, just wait and see, some Federal Judge out there will dig some technicality up and overturn it or at least shelve it into some kind of appeals process.

Seriously. :( This is such a mess.
I have to say again though.....what if we Conservatives took to the streets in protest because Obama got 52% of the vote? Obama wants to strip us of ACTUAL RIGHTS, and yet we are not in the streets threatening elderly people, and threatening to burn down the homes/gathering places of democrats. Homosexuals were not stripped of any rights! They still have the exact same domestic partnership rights as they did on Nov 3, they just cannot say "marriage" as of Nov 4, that's it.
Here is my take on Prop 8 and what helped it win.....I would be willing to bet money that a pretty good percentage of people who voted YES could have cared less about gay marriage. They voted yes to make a statement to judges who legislate from the bench. Had the judge never overturned that ruling, and the homosexual community put a measure on the ballot to legalize gay marriage, I would be willing to bet that they would have seen it legalized, because prop 8 would have never been written to amend the Constitution. Why? Because the judge would have never given them cause to write it that way. That is just my opinion, but I am pretty sure I am correct. The other "problem" for the gay community was the black vote, which netted them Obama, but typically the black community is against homosexuality. :hat

Yes, those evil Mormons spent some money to defeat Prop. 8 and defend family values even Christians should agree with ... and this is the result of it:
Prop. 8 protests targeting Mormon Temples in CA, UT and elsewhere

Thousands in Salt Lake City protest LDS stance on same-sex marriage
More than 3,000 people swarmed downtown Salt Lake City to march past the LDS temple and church headquarters, protesting Mormon involvement in the campaign for California's Proposition 8.
At one point, the crowd took up the mantra made famous by the country's new president-elect: "Yes, we can!"
Church officials are "disturbed" that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was "singled out for speaking up as part of its democratic right in a free election," said LDS spokesman Scott Trotter earlier Friday. "Millions of others from every faith, ethnicity and political affiliation who voted for Proposition 8 exercised the most sacrosanct and individual rights in the United States - that of free expression and voting," Trotter said. "While those who disagree with our position on Proposition 8 have the right to make their feelings known, it is wrong to target the church and its sacred places of worship for being part of the democratic process."

At least 400 protest outside Mormon Church, thousands more in Sacramento
The gathering follows several similar events around the Bay Area and California. Earlier today, more than 400 people gathered outside the distinctive Mormon Temple in Oakland to protest the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' support of Proposition 8.
And amid chants of "Stop Mormon hate" and "Enough is enough," many protesters worried that they had been complacent before the Nov. 4 election. A previous protest outside the Mormon Temple on Oct. 25 drew only about 50 people.
Some of those who gathered advocated for a boycott of travel to Utah, the home of the Mormon Church, and of Mormon-owned businesses. A flier that was passed out listed several such firms and asked that "gay dollars" not be spent at Utah ski resorts and at the Sundance Film Festival in January in Park City, Utah.

Thousands in Los Angeles protest gay-marriage ban
Outside the gates of a Mormon temple, Kai Cross joined more than 2,000 gay-rights advocates in a chorus of criticism of the church's role in a new statewide ban on same-sex marriage.
Two people were arrested after a confrontation between the crowd and an occupant of a pickup truck that had a banner supporting Proposition 8. One demonstrator ended up with a bloody nose in the fracas. Seven arrests occurred during Los Angeles-area street marches late Wednesday. The temple protest was organized by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center.

Arson suspected in LDS temple fire September 10, 2008
Authorities suspect arson in an early morning fire at the Mormon temple in the St. Paul suburb of Oakdale.
Smoke and fire were reported in the front entry of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints temple shortly before 3 a.m. Fire Chief Jeff Anderson says it was mostly out by the time firefighters arrived.
The fire was mostly confined to the front doors, but Anderson says some light smoke got into a front room.
Church leaders estimate the damage at $25,000.
Investigators found no signs of forced entry, and authorities don't believe the case is a hate crime.
Anyone with information is asked to call Oakdale police at 651-738-1022.
The arson in Oakdale (St. Paul suburb), Minnesota occured the week after the GOP convention in September. At the time it did not recieve much national coverage. A fire bomb (molotov cocktail) was thrown at the doors but self extinguished with only $25,000 of damage. The local police are stymied. They don't consider it a "hate" crime. Perhaps they should check the local GLBT chapter? As this appears to be a more concerted effort. Protests at other temples were planned before the election even took place.

The LEFT has no tolerance. Look at how this little old 80 year old lady was mistreated:
"There is simply no explanation for this kind of intolerance. For a group of people who claim to be fighting to expand their rights, they sure are willing to strip conservatives of theirs. "
(Get past the bumper ad and watch the whole thing. It is horrible.)

(Republican)Schwarzenegger tells backers of gay marriage: Don't give up
LA Times ^ | November 10, 2008 | By Michael Rothfeld and Tony Barboza
The governor expresses hope that Proposition 8 would be overturned as protesters continued to march outside churches across California.
...
He also predicted that the 18,000 gay and lesbian couples who have already wed would not see their marriages nullified by the initiative.
...
With his favorable comments toward gay marriage, the governor's thinking appears to have evolved on the issue.

I think I might have opened a can of worms tonight. For several days now, I've had a number showing up on my caller I.D. Well, tonight when they called, I decided to pick up. The caller informed me that she was calling from the University of Northern Florida and she was helping to perform a survey. I agreed to participate. Many of the questions were in regard to what I believe about homosexuals. Do I believe they are born with their sexual preferences or do they choose it? Should they be permitted to marry one another? Should they be permitted to adopt children? Should they be allowed toopenly serve in the military? What is my political party affiliation, age, income, education level, religious persuasion, etc. I thought about not answering and hanging up, but I think it's important for me to willingly stand firmly for what I believe.

I would have participated too. Any chance I get to stand up for God and His truths I will jump at. I say good for you. These people need to be prosecuted in MANY ways. They are running around like terrorists and they should be stopped. Like Melissa Etheridge saying she'll no longer pay taxes because she's not being offered equal civil rights. I say go right ahead Melissa, then you can go to jail! This stuff gets me rilled up.

HECK yeah. I had two possible lesbians behind me at Taco Bell the other evening. The one who did all the incessant talking ended up mentioning Obama and what a "wonderful man" he is.... and not one of those "lying scumbags...". I wanted to fly over the table. She went on to say how she was "an indian and never voted in her life until now". UGH. All the nutjobs came out of the woodwork to vote for this fool. She was from a suburb town of St. Louis, which is always lit up in favor of the liberal democrat candidates. Seems like large cities always tend to be the home of crazy people for the most part. I was rather ticked off.
