There has been a fire burning now in Montecito, homes are on fire, and power outages in Santa Barbara. Earlier they had 70mph gusts, and it was in the 80's today. Also expected for tomorrow, red flag warning moving down towards the LA and Orange county area. My Sister and my niece are there, and said the streets were crazy with no power, and traffic. There are about one thousand students in a private Christian college , that cant leave and are in a fire proof building. Right now its very windy outside, and its 70 degrees at 10:00 at night. There is a state of emergency in Santa Barbara. Gotta go try to call my Sis....

Thank you for your prayers! My niece made it to my sisters house. The students at the Christian college are "sheltering in place" in a fireproof building. They said the Christian college experienced a fire storm, and they have lost some buildings. These homes in Montecito are cazzillian dollar homes, and the fire came so fast, some weren’t able to get their horses and pets out. :( My sis said it has entered the edge of Santa Barbara, and they are nervous for themselves and their friends. There is lots of smoke and ash for them outside! Wind gusts are still 70mph at 11:00 pm No sleep tonight! Thank you for your prayers! God Bless…

I asked because I think I have a friend who has a daughter who is attending that college or one very close--I'll have to call her in the morning and find out. All I know it's real close to Santa Barbara. Those private, liberal arts colleges are very expensive. My father still grumbles about mine goin' to waste... and I'm 40. Spent 4 years at one, then promptly went to nursing school.

Praise the Lord I went to nursing school--there isn't a shortage of work, except now... people are too broke to go out and do anything to hurt themselves. So, my shifts are cancelled and I stay awake at night and puruse the message boards. :doh
I'll be praying for your sister...
