Interesting. Although the end times Babylon is not the same one that's in Iraq...

Can you elaborate on why this is not the end times Babylon, and where the end times Babylon actually is. Thank you.

Read Revelation 18. It is an economic superpower that sits on many waters and is the most powerful empire in the world. Not an archeological dig site. (The name Babylon given to it in prophecy is figurative.)

I see it looking something very similar to Dubai...if not Dubai it self.

Some Bible scholars do believe that Babylon will be rebuilt. Babylon cannot be Dubai only Dubai is Dubai and Babylon is infact the same Babylon (in Iraq) where they built the Tower and God confused their language thus we have all different languages today. In revelation their is a Spiritual and political account of prophecy mentioned, whether Babylon is to be rebuilt to become one of the greatest seaports remains to be seen it just may or may not happen:thumb

Did anyone see the photos of how much of Babylon has been rebuilt, Sadam started rebuilding it. The photos were posted last week I think it was. Do a search, it was really something to see! What a palace!

"Babylon" in Revelation is used in the same way the phrases "Wall Street", "Madison Avenue", and "Broadway" are used. Yes, they are specific places, but the concepts that they represent (finance, advertising, theater) have transcended the actual place. For example, if someone says they want to "work on Wall Street", that doesn't mean they would be satisfied as a janitor in a Wall Street subway station. It means they wish to work in finance/capital markets.

It's the same with "Babylon". The city actually came to represent the apostate religion began by Nimrod and the exaltation of man as a "god" above God.

It would take a LOOOONG time before any rebuilt Babylon (the specific place) would have the economic clout to cause all the merchants of the world and of the seas to grieve at its destruction.

(This is Charles Ryrie's interpretation as well.)

Ummmm......yea, it is.

If God was not to be taken "literally", then man would be guessing all over the place as to what He meant. That was not His purpose for us. He is to be taken literally, when possible.

REALLY ?? Have you ever read "Beyond Iraq: The Next Move--Ancient Prophecy and Modern Day Conspiracy Collide" by Michael D. Evans? Babylon could be rebuilt in a few months, especially when strong forces are behind the scenes.
