Do you view it as a witnessing opportunity and talk to them or say you are not interested and close the door? I view it as an opportunity to witness most times. It encourages me to really know my faith.

Peace,
Michele

You are right. I myself used to be a jehovah's witness. If someone had just left me alone and let me believe what I believe..... who knows where I would be. Praise God I am no longer lost and I am saved!!
We should be heartbroken that so many people are lost and without Christ they are going to hell.

Well, when they tell you that "144,000 of them are going to Heaven" (out of millions of the followers, no less), ask them if they can prove they're one of them. :idunno :hehee

They (jehovah's witnesses) believe that almost all of the 144,000 have already died and gone to heaven. No hope for the bilions alive now,

My husband is a baby Christian, so I usually tell them I am a Baptist and shut the door. (We don't get anything but Mormons at our door) Even then they try to argue with us sometimes. One even tried to make us promise we would visit his Church. ( I don't want hubby to get confuse) 2 years ago we accidently went to a prophecy convernce in our town that ended up being held by the SDA Church. We wait 7 nights before they told us who they were. We left there with my hubby thinking we were going to hell for taking the mark of the beast (they think it is going to Church on Sunday) Took weeks before hubby felt safe

That is horrible, Betty, that they scared your husband that way. My dad became mormon late in his time. oh, he tried and tried to get us kids to convert to mormonism. I was quite blunt with him and told him that mormonism just didnt believe what the bible says. Of course he argued with me, I tried to talk to him just about the basic tenets of Christian salvation, but he would say that I wasnt right. I showed him scripture and wrote him a letter about it. He had his mind made up. They believe a lot more strange things that is not biblical other than satan and Jesus are brothers. They also believe when you get married mormon, then when you die you go off to a planet made for you to populate it with you spirit children that you can now have since you are dead, you are married through time and eternity.

I researched the gold plates, the kinder hook plates I believe were the second set of plates that Joseph Smith received. It was big hoax, a joke played on him.

They also believe that Jesus visited this continent in person. North America.

they believe that when someone dies, someone can get baptized for them and then that person will go to heaven. Proxy baptism for the dead.

My dad died over a year ago, he never said so, but I wouldnt doubt that he got baptised for me. He was totally convinced on mormonism. He went so far as becoming one of the elders there and he was similar to a, well, a higher ranking person in the church. He taught and stuff, he was ordained to baptize others.

They believe they are the only ones going unless someone got baptized for ya. Im not sure if they believe in hell. They do believe people will go to different levels of heaven. works based heavens.

Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, he must have been really crazy.

The most remarkable thing is that they have a belief so strong, with nothing really to back them up. There is no archealogical evidence of the early founders claims. Whereas, when Jesus walked the Shores of Galille and the streets of Jerusalem and Nazareth and every where else He went, there is proof that He did it.

they have many un biblical beliefs.

they dont believe the bible is the infallible word of God.

Those are the ones right off the top of my head I can remember.

I used to speak with them all the time and I was quite studied on JW beliefs and would discuss various bible verses with them always focusing on the Diety of Christ. I studied with alot of Walter Martin tapes and books. But I no longer answer my door to them. I have come to the conclussion that I am wasting my time. They constantly study and are brainwashed by The Watch Tower Society with come back answers to every issue or scripture you bring up. The Watch Tower Society is not stupid and they have studied what Christians use to oppose them and they train thier people exactly how to respond. It's my own personal conviction but I have come to agree with John when he said in 2 John 7-11:

Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.
Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.
Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.

I had 2 young Mormon men sitting in my living room one day. One of them asked me how I know with such certainty that I'm saved and going to Heaven. The Holy Spirit took control of my tongue and said, "Because His spirit witnesses to my spirit." One of the boys looked as if I'd slapped him in the face, just stunned! I truly believe a seed was planted or watered that day. :dance2

Geez I need to go find my post I did on another board about a couple of very troublesome JW's in my neighborhood. They were argumentative and aggressive to the point of actually sticking their foot in people's doors and pushing them open. Getting in their faces.

Homeowners' board met and wrote a resolution and presented it to the police and to the Kingdom Hall they were from & threatened to sue (yeah it was that bad). I was on the board but by then I'd already scared them off.

Not quite the good Christian witness but I'd already tried that so I tried another approach which worked better. They ran like greased lightening and haven't been seen since. That happened on a Sat and I didn't get around to writing the resolution and getting it mailed until the next week.

Going to see if I can find that (I've got it written up somewhere and don't want to have to rewrite it so I've got to see where I put it). It's funny. My neighbors about fell into the street laughing.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe this is the verse they (JW) use against those they disfellowship (they will disfellowship their own children). This was along the lines of what my Hubby's family said to my MIL with regard to my coming to the family reunion......they don't like me much because I will tell them what I believe without flinching. I was worried about going there next week, but I felt the Lord telling me to study up on what they believe because this time I will need that as much as knowing what I believe. I think that there are 2 ways this will go........they listen and see the truth or they permanently boot me from anymore family functions......either way I will have stood up for the truth. :nod

This is true. The last time I spoke with them I asked "why bother then?" :idunno ...............and they did not have an answer. *chirp*

You do need to know YOUR stuff.....but it helps to know theirs too.

This is very helpful. http://www.carm.org/mormon.htm
