You are right. I myself used to be a jehovah's witness. If someone had just left me alone and let me believe what I believe..... who knows where I would be. Praise God I am no longer lost and I am saved!!
We should be heartbroken that so many people are lost and without Christ they are going to hell.
Since you used to be JW, what tips could you give when witnessing to a JW?
Any particular question or verse, or point that could be made to get the visiting JW to thinking for him/herself instead of just accepting what the Watchtower Organization hands down to him/her?

Do you view it as a witnessing opportunity and talk to them or say you are not interested and close the door? I view it as an opportunity to witness most times. It encourages me to really know my faith.
Peace,
Michele
It is the greatest time to take this opportunity... sit with them and show them the real Jesus of the Bible. I've done this several times... the young men have come back to learn more. Oh yes, I can tell they have taken what I've shown them... back to the "elder"; but I've been able to plant the seed, some case get to water it... and still other times to see them blossom into a born again believer of the living God, Jesus our Lord.

There are several websites out there which will help you in witnessing to them (I just found them out myself). They REALLY know their bible (kjv) so be prepared for that. Stay on course with the gospel. I let my witness get side tracked on to side issues because I thought they were saved. See they use the same terms we do (reborn, saved, repentance, salvation, etc). But theirs have a different meaning than our terms (this I didn't know). So this is where the rubber meets the pavement. You have to find out what these words mean to them and walk through the gospel with them very slowly. This isn't something that can be done in a 10 - 15 minute witness encounter imo, you should really set up some times where you can get together with them privately.
I know this thread is months old, but I am a new member and I wanted to reply to your posting. I am a former Mormon, so I know what I am talking about when I say that you will never change the mind of a missionary at your door. The best you can hope for is to plant a seed of doubt. Like the JW's I have read about on this thread, the missionary's are brain washed to the nth degree.
I also wanted to tell you about the best web sight to help you witness to your Mormon friends. It is www.utlm.org The Utah Lighthouse Ministries. They have been helping people out of Mormonism for 45 years. I hope I am not out of line posting this so late in the game.:wave
