Do you view it as a witnessing opportunity and talk to them or say you are not interested and close the door? I view it as an opportunity to witness most times. It encourages me to really know my faith.

Michele

I have also witnessed to them but mainly have given them my testimony and talked of the deep spiritual things. They are always taken back by what I have said and not offended. I can tell they are giving a lot of thought to the things I'm saying. After seeing them I spend days in prayer asking the Lord to reveal His truth to them.

I spoke with two mormon teenagers a few days ago. We spoke for awhile and I feeling that we had more in common than different because we used the same lingo and stuff. I obviously didn't know much about mormons, I knew they were a cult but they seemed to know so much about the bible (more than me in certain areas). And that is ripe for disaster.
When I got home, I surfed the internet for some info. I found out they do indeed use the same lingo as we do BUT their's has entirely different meaning. :doh And they believe satan is Jesus' brother. What they believe is entirely different than me.
I went through their repentance plan booklet which they gave to me, with a pencil marking out all the errors I saw. I hope that when I see them again on my street, I'll be able to pull that out and discuss it with them, and show them scriptures about the devil in their kjv bible. And then walk them through the "good Person test". Do you think this will work? If not, what would you recommend?

The other day on campus, while walking back to my truck after class, I was approached by two guys who were morman. Wow were they salesmen! Im not gifted with the gift of debate and I tried to be nice yet tell them I didnt want to hear their story because I believe what I believe already. I wish I knew what it is about Mormanism that is not right. I really didnt know what to say to them about why I didnt agree with their religion other than it isnt what I believe in.
What should I have said? Of course I will probably never get another opportunity like that but maybe. So will someone give me a rundown on the FAQ's regarding mormanisn?
There are several websites out there which will help you in witnessing to them (I just found them out myself). They REALLY know their bible (kjv) so be prepared for that. Stay on course with the gospel. I let my witness get side tracked on to side issues because I thought they were saved. See they use the same terms we do (reborn, saved, repentance, salvation, etc). But theirs have a different meaning than our terms (this I didn't know). So this is where the rubber meets the pavement. You have to find out what these words mean to them and walk through the gospel with them very slowly. This isn't something that can be done in a 10 - 15 minute witness encounter imo, you should really set up some times where you can get together with them privately.

I also use it to witness.
It is hard though on me because I was baptised at 8 into the Mormon church. I tried to foloow it but I just could not, that was before I was saved and baptised for real. If I was to go back to that church and search records I would still be listed as a member. Like Hotel California, you can check out but you can never leave!:fear

Well, when they tell you that "144,000 of them are going to Heaven" (out of millions of the followers, no less), ask them if they can prove they're one of them. :idunno :hehee

That's not true, at least not from the booklet they gave me regarding how to get saved mormon style. In the booklet, it says there are 3 heavens, and that nearly everyone will make it there in one level or another.
Maybe your thinking of the Jehova's Witnesses?

I can't think on my feet. I've tried a couple of times but their training and familiarity with the Bible just overwhelms me. I don't have a good memory, I always did badly in exams it was only my essays and assignments that got me through Uni. I need time to consider what was said to me, time to go away & evaluate it and then formulate an appropriate response.
I now thank them very much, ask them their names and then tell them Jesus loves them very much, he died for them, I will pray for them and close the door. I guess that surprises them because they don't expect after I've asked for their names to get the door shut in their faces. I hope the Lord understands I can't cope with their brainwashing conversations.

Hi All!
First time poster, long time reader (lurker?) of raptureready and rr-bb’s.
About a month after we moved into our new house, early one morning, 3 Jehovah Witnesses knocked on my door wanting to share scripture with me. It could have been my barking dogs, the boxes that were begging to be unpacked or my lack of preparation in dealing with them that prompted my response of “no thank you” and “have a good day”.
As I watched them drive away, I realized immediately the amazing witnessing opportunity God gave me and I completely – totally - missed the boat. I was definitely disappointed with myself. But I didn’t know what they believed and in turn how I could counter with scripture? I went to work researching and the best site I found is through Way of the Master, Evidence Bible. Here is the link specifically for JW:

I’m looking forward to my next encounter with a JW, I know it will be a much different scenario. Hopefully I will have the opportunity again and perhaps reach one of them. I agree with inHisarms that this cannot be done in 10-15 minutes and would require some degree of privacy.
