I just went to the doctor yesterday with complaints of itching and discomfort. I also have a red sore on my breast that she said is probably nothing. Now, informed when I go next week for my mammogram and ultrasound, I'll know what questions to ask.

I'm going to set up a follow up appointment today to make sure that I get my questions answered after the tests next week.

Thank you for posting this.

Oh by the way, she told me the itchness was because I drink caffeine.

I believe thermography will detect this type of cancer but it isn't offered as a choice very often. Insurance companies don't want to pay for it either even though it is much safer than mammography.

Sophie,

Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I had never heard of this type of cancer. I'm due for a mammogram this year so I am glad that I found out about this before I go.

I know I posted this on another thread about this cancer, but last week we buried my dear friend who died of this at the young age of 35. It was diagnosed as mastitis and she was treated with antibiotics till she was sent to a surgeon to have it drained. The surgeon took one look and told her he wasn't touching it, it was breast cancer and he wanted her in for a biopsy the next morning. She fought it for 3 years.

My mom died from this :/

rule of thumb is if you notice some weird skin changes, you better go check it out with your doctor. If Antibodies don't help, better request a biopsy because mammagram will not detect it. A biopsy can detect Inflammatory breast cancer.

And you need to act soon as possible too to have better chance of surviving.

Signs:
purplish or reddish rash sometime mistaken as bruise that just won't clear up (early stage)
inverted nipple
red, swollen breast, sometimes feel like a rock
breast texture like a orange peel
nipple drainage

my mom had all those signs. She fought on it for 3 years too. She waited til her breast got so swollen that it was hard as a rock to be diagnosed.
