well we know its not Bert and Ernie...
i tend to lean toward Enoch and Elijah... most of the time. its not a salvation issue, so i allow myself some wondering leeway :)

I believe it will be Elijah and Moses cause:
Elijah was given the power to shut up the sky so it will not rain (1kings 11:6-17-1)
-This will happen during the tribulation period
As did Moses, the two witnesses "have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague" (11:6 with Exodus 7:14-21). This recalls Moses’ role as God’s agent, who through ten plagues—including turning the Nile and the waters of Egypt into blood—brought down the most powerful kingdom of the day.
Also, like Elijah, the two witnesses can consume their enemies with fire, if they try to hurt them (11:5 with 2 Kings 1:10). This fire is said to "come from their mouths" (11:5). Such a literal occurrence would be an odd sight.
It seems clear, then, that the two witnesses are portrayed as coming in the power of both Moses and Elijah, two of the greatest prophets of the Jewish nation. The writer appears to be creating a symbolic universe for his readers in which he is making a connection between God's acts in Jewish history and through the church.

Enoch and Elijah. They were taken away and didn't die. When they return they will be killed ay the anti-christ fulfilling what Jesus said that all men must die and face death.

I think we also have to take into account who were the two at the mount of transfiguration. They were Moses and Elijah. I believe that it will be them as the two witnesses, based off on the same as a previous poster which is the miracles they perform. I also think the mount of transfiguration gives us another clue here. I am not dogmatic about it. I understand both sides and can see each side's point. I don't think you can make a bad choice among the three of them. :)

No one is going to recognize either of the three, so even if God has given clues to whom they are, what would be the purpose of knowing that in advance? For the non-believers left behind, they are not going to say, "see I told you it was so and so". And if we are correct, we will know once we are Raptured. So, I suppose my question is how would knowing the exact two help?
Unless, when they appear and declare who they are, and those left behind read of them in the bible, that will make their testimony all the more believable? But then again, with the signs and power they will display, I can't imagine people needing to reference the bible for proof.....

Have you seen or heard of one of the Movies that purposely did not want a big name star because they thought it would take away from the plot line of the movie?
Like it would become all about that big star instead of the essence of the movie so they used people who were less well known.
I think this is one reason why God will not use Moses as one of the witnesses.
The whole world knows who Moses is.
The Ten Commandments and all that.
Plus I remember hereing a study about the fig tree and How our Lord grafted in the gentile branches to make it as it were a hybrid.
FOr that reason i think that one witness will have to represent the Jew's
and one will represent the gentiles.
Enoch is a Gentile.
Elijah is of Hebrew blood.
My thinking is that it will be Enoch and Elijah.

What an AMAZING time. Too bad most gentile/jews wouldnt take notice to 2 of the most wise, blessed men in the history of man. They should consider it such an honor and grace that the LORD would allow these 2 to even preach to them.
I would almost want to live into tribulation to meet them, haha
But I know I'll have all the time in existance to do so in the coming Kingdom and thereafter :D
The future is looking amazing
Thank the LORD!

Enoch and Elijah
They were taken away and did not die.
I agree according to Hebrews 9:27~ it's appointed unto men ONCE to die. Elijah and Enoch have not died. But.... I am always open to correction should the Lord have someone else in mind. :scripture
