Ok, so maybe this is nothing, and has a more scientific explanation, but I wanted to put it out there....

On Fox News there has recently been a greater reporting of incidents with wild animals, mostly bears, encroaching on human territory or attacking humans in the woods. Now I would dismiss it as sensationalism if it weren't for the change in wildlife I have experienced in my community lately.

Not bears, but predatory birds...I never ever used to see hawks or any large birds other than crows around my home, but increasingly I have seen some hawks, a massive owl, and even (what looked like) a golden eagle.

And I could see this being a result of the land development near my home destroying the birds' territories, except I have noticed this trend in two very seperated areas. In a town 70 miles from my home is where I saw the owl and many hawks; the eagle and more hawks were in my hometown.

Ok, so is this something? Have y'all noticed a similar occurance? Now I keep my eyes on the skies for two reasons :)

It's so interesting that you put this together...yes I've noticed the same thing. There are so many reports of animals going into homes and grabbing humans...this just seems extreme compared to the past, where there may have been attacks in the animal's natural habitat.

It would be interesting to see what is happening in the spiritual realm.

I've even seen an increase of hawks and crows around here too. Even vultures in the farther away areas. Just in the last week or two I heard about the sighting of a (probably black) bear near the town that's about 7 miles north of me. Also heard about the 11 year old kid who was attacked by a black bear in the woods in... Utah was it? Also the story from FoxNews where I guy had to strangle a bobcat with his bear hands in his own back yard. The thing had rabies too... With crime and more threatening animals appearing more frequently, being armed is a good thing :thumb

This might sound mean.....but, what goes around comes around. We destroy their homeland and they invade ours. Not to mention the toxicity of the earth has preyed upon their delicate senses and they are confused. Urban sprawl has forced them to adapt in very unnatural ways. But I also believe that it is drawing us closer to our new home. One more birth pang.

BTW - Please come to visit me in the MK as the director of the San Diego Zoo - without bars!

Wild animals have less territory as we humans take over their territory.

Not a day goes by when I don't see a dead deer on the road where I live. Still we keep building more homes, office buildings etc.. What sad is there are already office buildings standing that are VACANT for lease or sale.

Yeah, I do see a trend as well. There was a story recently of a black bear dragging a kid out of his tent as he slept and killed him. Official said it is becoming more common with the black bear going after humans in that area. Also, and these are just cute little squirrels mind you, but they seem to live in our backyard and they don't have fear of us like they used to. I don't see an issue with the birds, but we don't have the larger species in these parts.

I have raccoons that come every night for "dinner". 7 total, a mom with her 4 babies and then two males that come seperately. The babies having come since they were tiny now eat out of my hand. I am an animal lover too luvsllamas. We are heading to Yosemite next month, I won't tell you what I do there. It's my little slice of heaven on earth, perfect place to be raptured from! :)

The upside is that we have had a huge variety of rare and beautiful non-predatory birds move in. Cardinals, red-headed woodpeckers, bluejays, black/maroon finches....

Ummm....

No... it's the other way around. WE are moving into THEIR "territory".

"Their" territory?
That sounds very enviro-Gaia-ish to me. I thought the Bible said the Lord God gave the earth to humankind, to subdue it and fill it.
Although I do believe we should be taking better care of it.
