I know and have heard a lot of Christian music, and I have not heard a better group than Lamb.

I have yet to hear any other artist or group who can sing in two different languages, sing in a wide variety of styles including electronica/dance rock, waltz, salsa, pop, heavy rock, ballads, salsa, blues, ancient Yemenite, and acappella. Also falsetto. That plus their instrumentation and lyrics are amazing. Plus they write their own music.

Here is a link with Lamb's music. All you have to do to hear the song is click the > button.

Joel Chernoff

I love messianic Jewish music so I have most of Lamb's music as well as Joel Chernoff's solo projects among my vast Christian music collection.:thumbup

Joel Chernoff's album Come Dance With Me is really a blessing to listen to. His talented daughter sings on it too.

Which album is your favorite?

I LOVE Songs For The Flock...that one I can never get tired of.

They just released it on cd, this year.

http://www.lambmessianicmusic.com Has most of their music... "New Mix" is still a cassette, and has to be found elsewhere.

Another Joel Chernoff fan here! I have all the Lamb stuff, some of it on cassette, but have updated to CD's wherever possible. The new Joel solo albums are incredible, and I have them both on a Joel playlist on my mp3. For some reason, although I have hundred's of CD's, they are basically all I've been listening to the last six months or so. If I can't sleep, Joel Chernoff's music is the answer!
My favorite album is the one I happen to be listening to! Seriously, I love them all! Same for individual songs, though right now, Holy Unto You
and Lay Your Hands on Me are the ones I go to for strength.

Oh! :yay Does this thread bring back memories!

As a child, my mother was a HUGE Lamb fan! :yeah Their music would be blasting when I got home from school. :lol2 You could hear it a block away!

My sister (Giggler) tells a story about growing up. In the summertime, she would be outside playing with the neighbor kids, and my mom would have all the windows of the house open and she would be playing her Lamb albums REAL LOUD. :sunny The neighbor kids would ask, "WHAT'SDAT??" :twitch Giggler would reply, "Oh, that's just my mom playin' her Lamb albums." :heh

When I was in high school, I went with my family to a Lamb concert and it was great! :yeah

After I graduated and moved away, I lost track of this group. To tell you the truth, I didn't even know that they were still going until I saw them in my CBD catalog last summer. :lol2

My momma is gone now. She died of cancer in 1990 at the age of 40. I still miss her. Whenever I think of her, I think of her Lamb albums, and how much she loved to play them.

I would like to buy some of their CDs. Which ones would you guys recommend I start with? :scratch

They broke up in 1992, actually. Joel Chernoff put out his two solo albums, then just last summer or so, Joel joined with Ted Pearce and re-formed the group, put out "The Sacrifice." But I like the original duo (Chernoff and Coghill) the best.

As for the albums, get 'em all LOL Seriously, there are wonderful gems on each. :nod I got S4TF and New Mix first because they were still on cassette and thought they'd go out of stock/print sooner rather than later. My top 4 are, S4TF, Year of Jubilee, Dancing in Jerusalem, and New Mix.

Now I've started guitar I've just been itching to play them. But, Lamb chords are impossible to find and Chernoff ones next to it. :cry The only one I've found was "Baruch Adonai"

Okay! :thumb I'll get them all! I was plannin' on it! :lol2 I love "Year of Jubilee". That was my favorite! :yay

My sister and I were talking about this group this morning, and reminiscing about the concert we went to. She still has my mom's albums!:yay Good for her! I hope she keeps them forever. :yay

I don't know what kind of condition they are in. :scratch If they are still in good condition, I could perhaps tape them, but I'm thinking it would be better to just buy CD copies of whatever recordings I can, and then tape the rest.

I love Messianic music and I also love Celtic music! I could listen to these all day long. :lol2 (Much to the chagrin of my teenagers! :heh)

When did you see them in concert? Lamb put out two live/in concert projects. The first Lamb Live (came out in 1981) you'll only be able to find on LP. Rare, but it has a song on it that isn't anywhere else, plus some good raw talent. The 2nd, later one is both in CD and DVD (came out in 1989). Dunno if they're similar to the one you went to, but it might be :noidea

CDs would be better; they are easier to digitize and you don't lose any data. New Mix (is only found on cassette or LP) and the first Lamb Live are not, but if you have an original copy of the cassette or LP, there are music stores that have equipment to digitize them and put them on CD without allowing you to lose any data and getting rid of the hiss or pops.

I'm surprised your teenagers don't like Messianic music...I can understand maybe some of the more ethnic sounding music, but a lot of it has a dance rock/electronica sound. In the past I've liked some of Maire Brennan's music, but last time I checked she didn't seem to be doing Christian music anymore.

Well, I'd like to see Marty do a song, in a klezmer/70's rock sound, using falsetto, and some of that in Hebrew, and some of that in acapella.

Acapella, and falsetto, sung quickly, is really rough for a guy to do.
