Trust Gods Word. What "Bible" was he reading from???
Run don't walk away from this teacher.
Scriptures that say it's not so?? I think you wasted an hour of your time.
Many scriptures support the rapture. Who is this "teacher"
I'm not sure of his church affiliation, I only know his name is Larry. Considering his stance on other things like eternal security, I guess I shouldnt have been surprised. He says it's better for him not to discuss it (eternal security) because one week he could be for it, then another might change his mind and be against it.
He also believes some of the same things the SDA does such as the importance of observing the Sabbath (on Saturday,of course) and also believes if you have no hobbies you can be more like the Lord and do more for Him, consequently. He may also believe in the grace plus works thing, but I'm not sure.

sounds like one of those who are blown about by every wind of doctrine. not well grounded. he needs to listen to the Holy Spirit and quit playing around ;)

I've heard more than one pastor preach on "There isn't going to be a rapture" - that's why I think it's going to happen on a Sunday morning- and leave a lot of very surprised people behind podiums!
Can't you just imagine -
"There's not going to be a rap....<POOF>"
"Where'd they go?"
"Every time those people tried to tell us this was going to happen you laughed at them."

No I didn't, because he said it in a way as to challenge him..."IF you were to prove to me there is a rapture in the bible, I can point to a bunch of scriptures that say there isn't." So he's already made up his mind, and at this point the only one who can convince him is the Holy Spirit.
I too would be thrilled to have it happen on a Sunday....actually maybe better yet on a Saturday, for those who think church has to be that day! LOL

That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

even if he sounds set on it, you should still try.

Usually in their attempts to debunk it they mention that it was first mentioned by an Irishman by name John Nelson Darby. BTW, he did mention it but he wasn't the first. You can get it from the source document - the bible.

I honestly don't understand how anyone could refute the idea of the rapture, when it's SO clearly spelled out in the Bible, in several different places. It seems like you'd have to work pretty hard at re-interpreting scripture to negate its existence. And why would anyone even want to do that? The rapture is good news! :yeah
