I've always thought "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" was aimed at Christians. Are you are saved, you become a different person, with little interest in the worldly things you once wanted, other Christians become your family, you all look at things from God's perspective, which sets you apart from the rest of society, the list goes on and on, it sounds like a panicky unsaved person's interpretation, watching people around him being saved and sanctified, and not understanding why they're so "different" now.
Interesting,:whaa? do you supose that is why the hero thought it was so bad and scary?:thinking

Waaay toooo much time, but also oddly enough a very strong sense of purpose - it's no easy task to translate the whole Bible into a language you have to make up as you go along!

Maybe a way to get one population segment to look at the Word who other wise might not have.:idunno

Yes, I remember when I was unsaved I'd leave the room if someone started quoting the Bible, it made my heart pound and made me very uncomfortable. If people thought about it, they'd realize it affects them that way because it's the TRUE Word of God..

Hollywood Jesus (http://www.hollywoodjesus.com/) is the most comprehensive sight I've seen for spiritual metaphors and elements in movies.
The name notwithstanding, it's anything but a Christian website and at times I think he's overly bound and determined to find some kind of spiritual metaphor in ever movie. That said, at times, he does offer some interesting insights into elements in a plot line that I never would have seen on my own.

Of course they use the idea of a rapture in books and movies. It makes for great fiction, you know.
It's "stealing" an idea, yes, but it's not "stealing" it from the Bible. End-of-the-world scenarios are part of many, if not all, religions.
