I remember reading an E-mail posted by Todd on RR(interesting E-mails we have received). This person said we Christians are,"..scarier than Trekies, but just as sad and pathetic".I wasn't upset, just bewildered, thinking,"Where did they get the analogy(Trekies) ?" Then It dawned on me;the world has been copying the Rapture in the form of TV fables(Science Fiction)for many years. My unsaved loved ones watced me grow up viewing shows like:"I Dream of Jeanie","Star Trek","The Time Tunnel",etc. All these shows have a miraculous "Vanishing into mid-air" theme. And now that I'm grown up,and sharing the Bible and Rapture being Imminent, some of them might think I,m trying to re-live old fantasys. The entertainment Industry has soiled our testimony! :candle

What a great source to steal from. If you think about it, it is kind of cool that they don't even know they are stealing from the Bible. Gods word will not return void. What a great witnessing tool.:sermon A sermon from Star Trek about the rapture of the church.:yeah

Consider the movie Dune, with its strong messianic imagery in the character, Paul Atreides.

Now there is someone with way too much spare time on their hands.

I've always thought "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" was aimed at Christians. Are you are saved, you become a different person, with little interest in the worldly things you once wanted, other Christians become your family, you all look at things from God's perspective, which sets you apart from the rest of society, the list goes on and on, it sounds like a panicky unsaved person's interpretation, watching people around him being saved and sanctified, and not understanding why they're so "different" now.

Waaay toooo much time, but also oddly enough a very strong sense of purpose - it's no easy task to translate the whole Bible into a language you have to make up as you go along!
