My apologies I posted this in the wrong place first time around.

I'll try to summarise as best I can. I belong to a non-christian forum, it is a medical forum for suffers of Menieres. There is a section called Your Religion and Spiritual Corner. Here all faiths post. There are quite a few Christians we happily share it with the others. Non-Christians occassionally join our threads and ask very valid questions. Lots of Witnessing opportunities, we know many non-Christians read our threads and they do ask us to pray for them.

I'll call this guy Mr X who started a post based on his idea of Faith and Healing. A number of our younger Christians got in and gave their idea of Faith & Healing based on the Bible. Let's say a hearty discussion followed. A few of us more mature Christians got Mr X to clearly list what he thought the Bible said and he did so quoting some scriptures taht supported his view. We think he may be a Jehovah's Witness.

So far we have defined Faith by a dictionary as Trust in our God's (being a Trinity) promises and actions. Through Scripture proved that Jesus did, without doubt, claim to be the 'Son of God' not just the 'Son of Man' (also linked this title to Jesus being the Messiah). Healing is not something Christians can just do because they are linked to Jesus through our Faith in Him.

Now he has sincerely asked the following:-

If Jesus is truely the 'Son of God' and Jesus says 'the Father is in Him and He (Jesus) is in us (believers)' then we are an extension of God (ie the trinity). If Jesus could heal then so can we. He also quotes 'we sit at the righthand of the Father along with Jesus'.

How do I explain to Mr X we do not become part of God or little gods or god in anyway and also explain about Jesus/the Holy Spirit dwelling in us?

Need help.

There's a link to good tips on witnessing to JW's. However, if you debate him on the issues of healings and such, it might be a waste of time. Go straight for the conscience.

If you haven't heard or seen Way of The Master yet, check out Hell's best kept secret, which shows you how to go for the heart of the issue. Use the ten commandments, show him that he's broken them, and needs to be made right with God. Then explain and show scriptures, where God demands a payment for sin, then explain what Christ did for him.

I'll skip over various pratices and beliefs people have, and go for their standing with God. Healing matters little, when God says it's appointed for a man to die, then comes judgement.

BTW, the evidence bible (in the link) has another area for tips on witnessing to JW's you might find helpful as well..

Misty,

It sounds like Mr. X is more of a Mormon than a JW.
WHat helps me alot is reading that paticular religions statement of faith.
Go directly to the source for those types of things.

As far as explaining the Jesus in us thing. The only part of Jesus we inherit at this time is the Holy Spirit which seals our souls until the day of redemption where we get our new bodies. That is how we "communicate" with God.

He is right, we are after our salvation just like the trinity. We have a body, a soul, and a spirit. Before we were just a body and a soul with a dead spirit.
its the Holy Spirit which quickens our spirit that brings us to salvation. It is THIS that gives the evidence of salvation.

I would also show him places in scripture were Jesus did not heal people. Sometimes people don't get healed and God has another plan for that person.

Thanks Dan I will be using the site.

I had Mr X clarify and he believes we become as Believers (his preferred term) part of the Trinity. His actual words are 'an extension of the Trinity' not like the Trinity or like God. I checked that out with him. We can then perform healing because we have the powers that belong to the Trinity because we are part of the Trinity.

I thought it over and what I need is to get specific scriptures that point to us being separate entities under the Headship of Christ and God.

Yes one of the other Christians already posted Mr X on those who didn't have Faith/Believed didn't get healed by Jesus (especially in his own home town).

Thanks you have confirmed some of the thought s I already had and that was really helpful.

I have an extra problem that just came up in Mr X's last post to me. Since I quoted two incidents with Christ where there was absolutely no way you can deny Jesus claims to be the 'Son of God'. It is important to Mr X Jesus actually says he is, not others. The new problem to overcome is that he claims he uses a copy of the KJV that is the most accurate and that any other version I use cannot be trusted.

I decided to pull out from further answering any questions from Mr X as he wouldn't post what his Bible had for the verses I gave him. In the end I encouraged Him with a verse that says 'that those who seek the Lord find him when they seek him with all their heart'. I quoted this from Deuteronomy not the New Testament.

Mr X isn't the only one posting here, a few New Agers and one obvious Budhists have joined so we are still have good opportunities to share the Gospel. Now we no longer post answering Mr X's questions but correct any misconceptions he has posted about the Bible/Christian faith. Only the Holy Spirit can reveal God's truth to these people.

Sometimes its just so hard to get your points across. I believe Mr. X is not a JW just because he accepts part of the trinity. Most JW reject the trinity because its not a word used in scripture. They claim its a man made doctrine.

As far as the KJV issue goes, that is a solid bible. That just makes me believe more that he is a mormon because that is the bible they use along with thier "other" bible.

Thanks GreenEyedLady

Yeah I'm confused if Mr X is a Mormon or JW. Myself and a few of the other Christians would love to just leave the post alone but we don't want to let him think we won't correct any of wrong doctrine. There are posters there who are sincerely asking good questions of us 'what we believe and why?'. I have found a few of them really starting to be serious about getting a Bible and finding out about Jesus. I'd hate for these guys to be turned off or led down a different path or given a different gospel.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm glad I'm not the only one that I have a few other Christians there saying the same thing or covering other points that need to be covered. The Body of Christ working together. Amen.
