you make some good points.
I was unfamiliar with the command to pray for Israel until this thread. That is absolutly reason enough
That's good, right there!
I remember when 911 happen. I was so enraged I wanted personally to push the buttons, to glaze over the whole middle east.
I remember telling one of my friends, "yeah, Israel also". He said "hey, what did Israel do?" me: "uhm, I don't know". SO, I started doing a lil' research.......OOOPPPPSSSS. I had to beg for forgiveness. I got a different attitude now.

but we already know they won't until the trib.
There are Messianic Jews in Israel right now. They are witnessing and their numbers grow all the time. You are correct that the whole of Israel will not come to Jesus until the tribulation, but certain Jewish individuals will continue to come to Jesus until the Rapture.
We must pray, we are called to:
Psalm 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you.

Put simply we pray for Israel because the Bible tells us to. Psalm 122v 6 which says "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem" has already been quoted.
We are also told that God will bless those who bless Israel. The Jews are our spiritual ancestors. We would not be here at all if the Jews had not been disobedient.
It is not always easy to know precisely what to pray as we have only limited understanding of what actually is happenning in Israel. We only see part of the picture. Join a prayer for Israel prayer group. All good churches should have one, even if its just 2 or 3 people

How about this. It is a matter of obedience. Abraham was told to sacrifice his son. He didn't ask why, he just did it, and God intervened. God blesses those who bless Israel and curses those who curse Israel. When you pray for someone, you are asking for God's blessing on them, in whatever way He wills. To pray for Israel is to bless them, to show that you respect the covenant that they share with almighty God. I don't need to know "why", it is an instruction from God, and should be obeyed.
If we are in a group and ask for prayer for Israel, it also shows other believers (and non-believers who may be present) that we support Israel as God's chosen people, and in this age, when so many in the Christian community are turning against Israel, or believe in the heresy of replacement theology, this is important. You can pray for the safety of those who are constantly bombarded with rocket fire, for those who have lost their homes, for the hungry the needy. Israel as a nation has the same problems that all the other nations have. They are people, just like us, with the same worries and concerns. You can pray for the missionaries that go and preach the gospel, I would rather as many Jewish people as possible would receive Jesus as their savior before the rapture, because if things are going to be horrific for the world in general, it will be worse for the Jewish people. Just as we know there will be untold multitudes of gentiles that become believers in the tribulation, does that meant we shouldn't share Christ now?
We pray for Israel as a nation because it is what God has instructed us to do and we show obedience to our God.
Perfect post!! We should do as we are commanded to.

Abba, today as the dark and ominous clouds continue to gather over Israel, we ask You to bless Your people with peace. May they know that You are still with them to fight for them. Even though they are presently Your straying wife, You have promised to draw them back to Yourself in fidelity and love forever. Give the PM and the leadership wisdom, discernment and boldness to stand up for their lives and to act as You would have them act. May the soldiers have Your blessings of protection, courage and victory. May Your will be done in all that affects Your people Israel and Your will is for their good. Particularly bless the Jewish brethren who believe in Your Son, bless them with all that You are for them, give them joy, peace and boldness. Draw Israel Home to You... :pray:pray:pray :israel

Dear Father, Give Mr. Netanyahu peace, confidence, courage, wisdom, and strength this week for the lion's den he is entering. May he remember "He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps" (Psalm 121:4).
In Jesus's name, Amen
