Rev 11:19 says....And the temple of God was opened in Heaven, and there was seen in His temple the Ark of His covenant, and there occurred lightnings and voices, and thunders and an earthquake, and a great hail.

There is much speculation about where the Ark of the Covenant is. Doesn't this verse state that the Ark is in Heaven? Certainly if God "took" Enoch he could take the Ark as well. Some say that the Ark in this verse is referring to the authentic one - that the one we had on earth was a replica of it. But, why would there be an original Ark in Heaven for the Glory of God to dwell in?

I certainly hope the ark is in heaven where it is safe from man's repeated attempts to locate it which would only result in desecration. But isn't Rev. 11 a future event? What do you make of the church in east africa that claims to have the ark? If they don't have the ark what would be their reason for claiming they do? They certainly have not garnered any special treatment or much media coverage of it.

Thistle,

The Ark of the Covenant was taken by Dr. Jones after a skirmish with the Nazis during WWII and is now in storage in an undisclosed warehouse in Washington, D.C.

Exactly. I thought everybody knew that.

seachelle76 & wildcat81 - - you are making fun of me?!?!

i hope the Ark is in heaven too. I didn't know about the church in Africa claiming possession... this must have been the basis of Ted Dekkers book A Man Called Blessed.
Reading some commentary, it seems many feel that this passage is speaking about the temple in Jerusalem in the last days from the vantage point of heaven. Hmmmmm..

The ark that God told Moses to build was a replica of the one that is in Heaven. In fact, the whole temple was built as a replica of the one that is in Heaven. God will bring that one down to earth for the millennium reign.

Have you ever seen Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark? Your thread was a perfect set-up for such a reference. Nothing personal. Nobody is making fun of you.

I am not offended by the teasing... i just wanted to make sure you WERE teasing! I'm not much of a movie buff..

I still wonder why God would need an Ark in heaven. (no disrespect intended)

Just REAL WILD CONJECTURE HERE.

If the copy is still on earth it is/was under the place where Christ was crucified.

The blood of the lamb had to be sprinkled on the mercy seat.

There was a mighty earthquake at Christ's death. Why?

To open a crack in the earth for the blood to flow through and fall on the mercy seat.

Again REAL WILD CONJECTURE HERE.

Or in a wearhouse in Washington D.C.

Not a wild conjecture at all. I have heard this theory and, while I find trouble believing in it, our God is an awesome God and I would not be surprised at all.
As a side note, have you ever noticed that when Mary looked into the tomb, that there were two angels sitting where the body had lain. One at the head and the other at the foot? Just like the two cherubim on the mercy seat.
