also you know what ive noticed? that the people i grew up in church with that went every sunday and that were really into it and were holy, are now becoming more worldy.and the ones who rebelled in their teenage years and went the opposite way are the ones who are holy and seeking the Lord..its like a shift is occuring..very strange indeed...

I know what you mean. I, myself went to church every Sunday, and when I got out on my own, I went my own way, but it feels like recently God has been calling me back, and I'm coming. I wouldn't want to miss any of His promises.

The media helps them go UP and then really helps them FALL down.

They are so starstruck with their money making abilities that no body gives them the straight talk on what is happening.

Winking at sin and not realizing that the door is wide open to all sorts of temptation.

I wouldn't say that any of these people "fell from grace". To do so would mean they had to have achieved grace to begin with, which considering the list, I sincerely doubt.

I don't know that there are more famous people doing bad things than there ever were. We just live in a culture that puts these people under such a microscope that the smallest of errors is magnified and repeated over and over every half hour on the news channels.

I'd agree somewhat w/ Architeklink, the media elevates these people to celebrity status for their own gain, then tears them down for the same reasons.

I guarantee that you could find a list of "celebrity" faux pas at least this long for any year in the past century.

You've got a point. There's also the fact that in the old days the press worked with and shielded the celebrities too, because of that, you didn't hear all the bad stuff that went on. It had to get really bad first. The movie studio's had the power, not individuals.

Not just icons. I just saw where some cities are banning bottled water and going back to tap water and, I love this one, fat people may live longer according to a new study.

Think I'll have that donut this morning. :nod

Other recent news about "changes."

Women are turning to so called un-attractive males because they appreciate them more.

Caffeinated coffee is good for you.

Dark chocolate is good for you.

Steak has a nutrient, silenium I believe it is, that is good for your heart.

So........Love the Lord with all your heart and enjoy His blessings!

Not to mention Mel Gibson and certain influential pastors.

I look for this to increase even more especially among those who publically claim to be Christian. Satan's troops are attacking those people with great ferocity and some unfortunately will probably fall. We can only pray for their eventual restoration thru God's grace.

I sure don't mean to argue with you, I just want to say that some people who publicly claim to be Christians and then do something very unChristlike may really be Christians. I wonder how many times I have caused a brother or sister in Christ to wonder if I were truly saved.:scratch

My husband and I changed churches 2 and a half years ago. My husband was a deacon and we were both very active and prominent there. Then, one night when our Pastor and his wife were out of town for a 2 week vacation, 1 of the church members called and wanted a meeting with us. She wouldn't clue us in on the purpose of the meeting, but she came over right away. She told us that our Pastor had been making some very unsavory passes at her and several other women in the church, but she wouldn't tell us any names or details. She did, however agree to a meeting between us, the other officers in the church and the other women who were making these claims. We did a lot of praying before the meeting. It's a good thing we did. At least 2 of the women were completely credible, although one of them was just as guilty as the Pastor, but was trying her best to present herself as completely innocent. Ours was an independent church so the only one we could go to in the church was God. Again, we spent a lot of time in prayer and a lot of time in the Word. We all heard from God and He told each of us that we were to resign from our positions and leave that church. I even heard a very distinct "Get out and get out of my way." Well, several people had been leaving the church and we resigned after a meeting with the Pastor on a Saturday night. The following morning, the congregation came to church only to learn that all the officers and most of the leaders in the church had resigned the night before. They demanded to know what was going on. A meeting was set for later in the week. My husband and I were invited to come, but we had our orders from God. At that meeting, the Pastor stood up and made accusations against the women who were his accusers and against those of us who had resigned that Saturday night. My daughter had been at the meeting and was way ticked off. The Pastor was able to convince some people of his innocence, but the Light of the Truth had been focused on what was going on. Before the week was over, so was his position as Pastor of that church. The Sunday after our resignations, my husband and I attended a different church we'd never been to before. Two months later we became menbers of that church and we've been there ever since. We loved our former Pastor and his wife and we were deeply hurt by what happened, as were many others, including the Pastor and his wife. That episode helped me to fully understand why it is so important to keep your eyes on the Lord and not on any person. Even the best of Christians is likely to let you down.

We all rise and fall in enthuesiams.
Go to church, stay away from church. Live alone, live together.

Ecclesiasesor:
3:1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 3:2A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 3:3A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 3:4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 3:5A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 3:6A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 3:7A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 3:8A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

OH you just made me think of two things to add, thanks tigger!

Jimmy Carter siding against Isreal after being hte first evangelical president (correct?)

President Bush (again) submitting to prayers from other religions

There are many who would question Carter's profession of faith, especially since he has gone against scripture on many occasions, especially but not only concerning Israel. As for Bush.........:rolleyes
