Saw this in the news today: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,288797,00.html
The fact that the child's mother may have given the child the drug makes it even more heartbreaking. I hope the people involved will be arrested and this child can be saved.

I am wondering if the mother is one of the teenagers in the vehicle. Doesn't matter either way. I am sure somebody will see the story and
identify the poor child.

Ecstasy can wreak havoc on a grown adult's brain. In my wilder days, I did it a few times and the name is appropriate, but for a couple of days afterwards, your dopamine levels are so low that you feel like dying. It's a terrible swing to endure and just one reason I only tried it a couple of times. Even as wild and reckless as I was back then, that kind of "hangover" just wasn't worth it to me.
There's no telling how much damage it could do to a child.

I am sure the effects/damage are even more pronounced on a young, developing brain.

Way worse. The biggest problem w/ X is the effect it has on dopamine levels. Dopamine is the chemical in the brain that is released when we feel happy - the higher the level, the happier we are, and generally there is a constant, baseline level released that allows us to feel "normal".
X sends those levels skyrocketing for a while, and after they subside, even normal levels feel insufficient resulting in depression. Compounding that, such high levels of dopamine release permanently damages the release mechanism, making it hard for the brain to produce the chemical to a sufficient level. So the person needs more dopamine than usual and gets less than usual - it's a double whammy.
The concept of "Suicide Tuesdays" were common in the (night)clubbing world - kids take a bunch of X on Saturday night and by Tuesday, they're crashing so hard they're ready to kill themselves - the name was more metaphorical than anything, but it wasn't unheard of for actual suicides to occur.
So yeah...long story short, the kid could end up being prone to depression for the rest of her life.

I found it interesting that the radio in the van was tuned to a christian radio station. I think that is clear of the problem with christian radio, bookstores, etc. that people think they can just earn their salvation by listening to christian radio and buying from christian bookstores but then still doing extasy and drugs and living depraved lives like they want, abusing their children even. In my eyes this is how I see much of america that calls itself "christian" but is most probably not truly christian but instead is deceived themselves.

This broke my heart and Fox kept on playing the video. I had to turn away...Such a beautiful, innocent little girl. Supposedly they are questioning those in the van with her and they said she was "impressionable" and did what she was told. How do you tell a child that age to roll her eyes into the back of her head and ignore being pinched and proded. Lock them up I say. If they act this way now, how will they be later in life! Heartbreaking:( I'm ready any time you are Lord!!!!

The teenagers with the girl have all been found and are of course denying the child was given drugs:
