I would like this to be a clean thread. Please do not repost other responses. Use commentary thread for those items.

Please share methods, verses, ideas, on dealing with temptation - general or specific.

1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as common to man: but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

When you see someone making poor choices, pray for them.

Turn your eyes away, or do not go where the temptation resides.

If you keep buying stuff, leave your money at home. Or only take what you have budgeted to spend, and only buy what you planed to get.

Remember the wife of your youth, remember the promises you made to her.

Keep your promises - especially to your children -often they won't understand.

First rule of thumb...to get rid of all things in your home/work that tempts you. If you are having problems with porn, get rid of all magazines, DVD's, pictures on your computer and under the bed. Get a filter for your computer. Don't say that you are strong not to have one. That's a lie. I know, been there.

Jesus says if you are having problems with your eyes, pluck it out. Not literally, of course, but He is serious about dealing with sin. Get rid of it.
