This is from one of the sites celtic posted.
Well, what is a Freemason?
A Freemason is a member of the world wide "Fraternity of Freemasons", dedicated to giving good men the philosophical tools to make themselves better, using three basic tenets of: Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
I believe it. :)

i was a rainbow girl as a teenager in the 80s. There was alot of biblical quoting during the ritual, but they liked to change scripture to fit their needs. "Now abideth, faith, hope and charity (these three offices lead to "worthy advisor"), but the greatest of these is charity." instead of 'love'.
I have to agree with Rebekah on this point; Charity comes from the Latin caritas, which is the equivalent of the Greek agape, which is the word Jesus used to describe God's kind of Love. If it's meaning had not changed over time, as words tend to do, it would be a more accurate way of translating Corinthians that just using the word "love," which has so many shades of meaning that it can be confusing at best and useless at worst.
As C.S. Lewis explained in "The Four Loves," there are four words for "love" in Greek, storge or general affection, phileon or friendship, eros or romantic love, and agape, which is the God kind of love, more a state of the Will than a feeling. Charity, as noted above, used to mean the kind of love meant by the Greek Agape.

BuzzardHut: What a wealth of information! Thanks for sharing! I haven't finished reading through it, yet... But I'm working on it! :) I'll probably have some questions when I'm done.
I guess the next question is: If there's no Scripture to back it up, then why would a Christian want to be involved?...
There is no specific scripture passage backing up the Boy Scouts either, and they practice the same kind of "religion," that the Masons do, at least as described on this thread.
:scripture
Oh my, Am I going to Hell because I was a Boy Scout?
:panic
Were my rank and merit badges really the Mark of the Beast?
:shocked
When I recited the Scout Oath was I really pledging my self to Satan?
:gaah
Is the Scout Law raised up in oppostion to God's Law, as it is a creation of men?
:faint
Let's see, "A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpfull, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obediant, Cheerfull, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverant." Obvious Doctrines of Demons there!
:devil
Oh, and that's a nice touch showing the link to the Knights Templar. As Umberto Ecco wrote, "No conspiracy theory is complete until you drag in the Knights Templar."
:armor
Of course there are only, at last official count, about 18 organizations that publically claim descent from the Templars, with various degrees of legitimacy. Not counting "secret" organizations like the Masons. Or the Boy Scouts.
:reaction
This last one is just because I've always wanted to use this smiley.
:darth
Face it, nobody here has proven their case either way.

Interesting... I didn't know that the Boy Scouts were a secret organization. :)

Those aren't my words... Brck...
Why are you so hateful towards some in here?
I'm not being hateful.

I wonder which is worse ...
- belonging to an organisation which does not use the name of Jesus Christ,
or watching a movie that misuses the name of Jesus Christ
- belonging to an unchristian organisation and doing good works,
or belonging to a Christian organisation and not doing any good works
- belonging to an organisation that embraces people of all faiths,
or belonging to a denomination and calling other Christians heretics and apostates
btw ... just in case anyone is wondering, yes, I do know that two wrongs don't make a right :)

Brkbrln,
As a born again believer who is indwelled by the Holy Spirit, of whatever age, you must have read that we are to test all spirits whether they are of God. Anyone who does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, this is the spirit of antichrist. (1 Jn 4:1-5)
Beloved, test all things whether they be of God if they are not RUN.....Scripture teaches that as the giver of Truth, the Holy Spirit, will lead His Children into all Truth because He is Truth. 1 Jn 4:15 "Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God." Should you really want to know the origin of FM - what relevancy is there that a select few of the founding fathers were members of this group? - start on your knees and ask God to give you eyes to see and ears to hear then read all Scripture that deals with gnosticism, divination, witchcraft, idolatry, false prophets, false gods, sorcery, etc. Then after you have completed the
study of God's Word - the only source of truth - pursue research on the FM.
It is a common misconception that these FM initiates (first timers) do not have any idea what it is they are getting into. How ludacrist! The very first part of every inititiate is to be led blindfolded by another FM, probably the one who 'sponsored' (invited) him, the initiate then gets on his knees unbuttons his shirt and takes his finger and drags it - across his throat - from the left ear to the right ear and says this is what shall be done to me if I so much as share one word of this secret initiation. OH, the initiate must first say that 'i am in the dark, i need the light, i seek the light from the worshipful master (demon/lucifer/master architect of the sky, etc) :spew
Oaths are forbiden Mt 5:34-7 & Jas 5:12. FM claim that candidates (initiates) don't take them seriously so they are compatible with Christianity - don't think so!
Did you catch that? How is it that anyone who has truly been born again, indwelled by the Holy Spirit of Almighty God could ever bend a knee - we only bow to Jehovah God (even the angels refuse bowing by anyone and rebuke those that have to worship God alone!) and He says we are to never take an oath, blood or otherwise. WE are not to be joined to those who do. Rational thought forbids the deception that 'we do not know what we are doing' because that would make my God a liar - in that He would never permit a child of His to partake of this blasphemy and say that they are 'in darkness'!
The FM have lodges (false temples) throughout the world....their own papers state clearly that members merely need to acknowledge a 'supreme being' - huh? They place the koran, buddah, hindu and any other 'writing' on par with God's Holy Word! They use the name Abaddon and Jab-Bul-On'. (Abbadon is Appolyon who is the demon of the pit) it is a play on words. The so-called secret name of God is a combining of Hebrew, Phonecian and Hindu 'dieties' FM call their 'god' Jabulun. See Ex 20:4-5, Jos 23:7
FM founders Pike, Mackey, Hall, Hutchens, Wilmsburst, etc. deny the uniqueness of Jesus Christ. Morals and Dogma, A Bridge to Light, An Encyclopedia on FM and The Meaning of Masonry. Hutchens wrote, "The purpose of teaching the concept of a Messiah in FM is to point out the universality in the well-developed religions of the ancient world." (www.namb.net) Moreover, Pike confused the Christian Trinity with the Hindi Universal Soul: 'Behold the True Masonic Trinity: The Universal Soul, the Thought in the Soul, the Word, or Thought expressed, the Three In One, of a Trinitarian Eccessais'."
Further Pike wrote: "Not withstanding the death of the Redeemer, man can be saved only by faith, repentance, and reformation. Having repented, and reformed, and found himself to the service of God by a firm promise and obligation, the light of the Christian hope shines down into the darkness of the heart of the humble penitent, and blazes upon his pathway to Heaven. And this is symbolized by the candidates being brought to the light, after he is obliged, by the worshipful master, who in that is a symbol of the Redeemer, and so brings him the light, with the help of the brethren, as He taught the Word with the help of the brethren, as He taught the Word with the aid of the Apostles."
Clearly, the FM are a bit off the mark. Jesus did not need the apostles to teach the Word! Basically works-based, obviously contrary to Scripture!
Lastly, the FM believes that salvation is obtained by works. Here is an implicit statement from masonic writings "Masonry is continually reminded that the purity of the light and conduct which is necessary to obtain admittance into the Celestial Lodge above where the Supreme Architect of the Universe presides."
8 Major issues with FM for the Christian
1) FM uses offensive, unbiblical and blasphemous terms relating to God
2) FM insists on the use of 'bloody oaths' or 'obligations', which are strictly forbidden in Scripture.
3) FM includes th eBible with as part of the 'furniture of the lodge', but only as an equal with non-Christian symbols and writings.
4) FM misuses the term

Just curious as to why my name is at the bottom of your post? :scratch It appears that I had quoted something inside your post, which I didn't. Having said that, I agree with everything you posted.
