There's no scripture to back up being in a fraternity either but should that stop all Christians from joining them?

.... And don't say I haven't researched well because I bet I've researched more than you. Anyway, like I said, I'm not even going to argue with anybody on this.
WOW; That seems to be a very arrogant response..... the point here is to share information, and help each other in GOD's word. Not to make ourselves appear superior to others; or to make others feel inferior.....

I only said that because I knew everybody would say I should have done more research. I have done enough research to come to a conclusion.

I'm about 3/4 to the way through reading BuzzardHut's post(s) and there is a lot of really good information. I especially appreciated the section titled "Freemasonry and Christianity" because it was full of very useful Scriptural references.
Please allow a single piece of (hopefully) constructive criticism: I have one thought that concerns me... I believe the post(s) may actually contain too much information--in the sense that information about masonry is divulged which I believe was not a benefit add to the points being made against it and that just as strong of a stance could have been made without such graphic details. I think a lot of the information I could have grasped without such details. The words of Jesus come to mind:
But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
Revelation 2:24
My thought on this verse is that Jesus is sparing the believers the gory details of the "depths of Satan", beyond what is pointed out in verse 20, so that they won't have to carry any additional burden.
Observe, (1.) What these seducers called their doctrines--depths, profound mysteries, amusing the people, and endeavouring to persuade them that they had a deeper insight into religion than their own ministers had attained to. (2.) What Christ called them--depths of Satan, Satanical delusions and devices, diabolical mysteries; for there is a mystery of iniquity, as well and the great mystery of godliness. It is a dangerous thing to despise the mystery of God, and it is as dangerous to receive the mysteries of Satan. (3.) How tender Christ is of his faithful servants: "I will lay upon you no other burden; but that which you have already hold fast till I come, v24, 25. I will not overburden your faith with any new mysteries, nor your consciences with any new laws. I only require your attention to what you have received. Hold that fast till I come, and I desire no more." Christ is coming to put an end to all the temptations of his people; and if they hold fast faith and a good conscience till he come, all the difficulty and danger will be over.

Comments on Revelation 2:24
I believe the verse is applicable; however, I'm open for thoughts and comments on this one.

i was a rainbow girl as a teenager in the 80s. There was alot of biblical quoting during the ritual, but they liked to change scripture to fit their needs. "Now abideth, faith, hope and charity (these three offices lead to "worthy advisor"), but the greatest of these is charity." instead of 'love'.
Hi! I'm not disagreeing with what you said in your post, but I just wanted to point out that "charity" is the word used in the King James Version, so that is probably the version they were using.

oh.
perhaps. i don't recall what version they used..it was a long time ago.
i think another thing that strikes me about the masonic (and other secret fraternal) organizations is the whole RITUAL they go thru. These grown men and women meet, in their silly costumes, with their silly crowns, sceptors, vestiges, aprons, necklace thingies...and they are required to MEMORIZE a book full of ritual to hold the meeting. (In Rainbow you were allowed a certain amount of mistakes when doing your 'ritual' and then you got points off from earning the bow charms. Once you earned the bow, you got the pot of gold and the wreath, which was only for SERVICE (not attendance, ritual, etc) and you needed extra points for that)...
They can only WALK a certain way through the assembly room (if i remember correctly from Rainbow, you could NEVER cross in front of the alter with the bible on it and had to go behind it only in ONE direction)...
the secret handshakes, passwords, signs, door knocks... Backing away from all and any demonic symbols, the whole thing just seems SILLY to me as a grown adult! if you want to fellowship with people, do you really need all that other STUFF?? and if its JUST plain innocent fellowship, WHY the secrecy? Why the swearing of oaths? Why the silly door knocks and special bows? :scratch
