Kung, I had a problem with my left shoulder when I was in my early twenties. I went to the doc and he wanted to shave 1/4 inch off my clavicle. I got a second opinion and it turns out my shoulder was just inflamed. A few weeks on medicine and a couple weeks of rest cured it.
That being said... I am now in PT for my right shoulder. I would prefer the surgery now I think. It feels wrong to be paying someone to twist my arm, literally.

Well, the problem with that is that I've done all that. I've:

- had 3 or 4 weeks of PT
- done absolutely NO upper body working out
- had 2 or 3 steriod/pain management shots
- etc.

I've done everything that can be done, and it still hurts. What sucks is that it doesn't hurt all the time; but it hurts when it 'counts' - when I try to do pushups, when I do situps, when I workout my upper body at all, etc.

So it's one of those situations where for a while, the solution is going to hurt a lot worse in the short-term than the problem...but after about 2 or 3 months, it'll be good to go. :)

Please excuse me for posting in here-I see it is supposed to be for men only.

Just wanted to add my experience with rotator cuff surgery (I also had the torn labrum).

Praise God I injured myself at work-so everything was paid for. I'm a letter carrier and lift alot of heavy parcels. The pain of the injury was constant and very bothersome and they wanted to wait awhile to see if some therapy would help. I had two cortizone shots as well. However, with me still having to work and lift parcels and heavy mail, nothing was working.

Doctor did arthroscopic surgery with four small incisions. I wore the sling for about three weeks then started leaving it off to sleep because it drove me crazy. Then I would leave it off during the day because I was just home and could not lift anything anyway.

After six weeks I started physical therapy-very slow at first. This is the main advice that I would add to everything mentioned above, and that is to go to all of your therapy appointments so the shoulder does not freeze up.

After three months I went back to work for four hours a day, just doing stuff around the office, and then back to full duty after five months. My surgery was last August, and I feel great now. I very seldom feel any pain there anymore, so I hardly even think about it.

It was quite difficult at first, because it's just me at home, but the Lord helped me through it and I am SO glad I had it done!

I will be praying that everything goes as well for you as it did with me!
God bless!
