I saw this picture and heard a brief commentary on the Early Show this morning about a major dust storm in Arizona. They said there was more predicted for today. I can't find anything on the Internet about it.
Did anyone else see it? The picture was pretty awesome.

I saw the effects of a dust storm when I was at Twentynine Palms, CA. I saw a car that looked like it was silver. When I got closer, I realized all the paint had been sandblasted off of it.

All,
I live out here in Mesa, AZ (Suburb of Phoenix) and let me tell you these Dust Storms are no joke!
They travel about 30-45 mph on the ground but, the winds inside are much faster! They can and do envelop anything in its path. We typically see 1 - 3 of these types of storms a year albeit, some are worse than others.
But they are fun to watch typically coming from the east south east direction. :hehee

I was in a dust storm in southern Missouri when I was a little girl. I had never seen anything like it before. We kids were standing on the porch outside my Aunt and Uncle's house. Our parents called us in quickly. I remember that it really scared me because I had never even heard of such a thing before.

In 2000 we lived in AZ and it was amazing what dust storms do. I have never seen anything like it. When it was done... it looked like it had lightly snowed. Everything was covered. GROSS.

That's all because we've entered the moonsoon season here in AZ. I live over in Lake Havasu, for which we're now experiencing the hot 'n' muggy temps that are due to reach 118 by this afternoon. Then later on this week, it is due to cool down to the higher 100s...which will go back up to the 100 teens.

Do you know where the storms were yesterday? I saw the picture and it was amazing. It was just enveloping this housing development.

Yeah, BigBunny, we have the notso giant rabbits here in AZ. :nod Me thinks that you could be thinking of Wyoming, where the so-called giant rabbits could be. :idunno

Yeah, probably over in southeastern AZ, where Tucson is located. Can my fellow Arizonans verify that for me please? :scratch Thank you.
