First off I want to say Modding is a very difficult job abd I appreciate the work of the RR Mods very much. I have been an
Admin of a busy site that is largely teen agers with pretty foul posting habits and cruel senses of humor towards one
another. They are from countries all over the world so I have dealt with cultural differences and racism also. I was also a
channel operator in a busy IRC channel for most of the 1990s. One thing I learned is some posters who do not like a certain
topic will sometimes post outlandeously and often vulgarly in an attempt to get a thread locked or even deleted instead of
forming an arguement logically. For those types of posts Ive learned to delete that post and allow the thread to continue
instead of shutting down the whole conversation.
I point to this thread...

And note a poster violated the board rules by posting to another message board and posting false information. But instead of
the post being deleted the whole thread is locked. This means that a user is free to exploit, hijack and even shut down a
thread by purposefully violating the board rules ona thread. Very simple - if I don't like a topic but can't form an
arguement against it, I'll just post to another message board, throw in some choice insults and maybe act like a nut and draw
enough dander up so the thread gets locked. I deal with this very sort of thing on a daily basis and have for quite awhile,
it's called trolling in order to shut a thread down or ruin a valid discussion.
I was really hoping the new RR was going to step away from this but I have to admit I'm very nervous right now as I see some
echos of the past board when simple common sense like deleting a post is overlooked for locking threads so no one else can
discuss the matters at hand. SOme of these matters are very real to some despite what others may feel or think, we all
haven't walked in each other's shoes and the hand cannot say to the mouth it doesn't know what it's doing.
I really do not hope this is the future of Rapture Ready message board because this was the exact problems of the old in that
decisions were made to shut down topics and conversation that made some "uncomfortable" at the first sign of a bad post. I
always noted someone would highjack the thread and the Mods would take that as the 1st chance to squelch the whole topic and
shut it all down.
What's the matter with just deleting the post and allowing the discussion to continue? Or are we going to do the long, slow
haul back to the same old RR we hoped to see renewed?? As I have joyfully brought a couple of people to the board and was so
hoping we wouldnt have to post like we were walking on egg shells anymore. Now, I'm not so sure.
May God Bless You,
Enoch
