Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with using Bob Jones University distance learning programs -- either DVD or satellite? Am considering that for next year, so any information is appreciated.

We used BJU on DVD for two years. I like it better than the Abeka dvds because the teacher is not in a classroom and is looking at the camera not a class. Some of the dvd's are taped during a live airing on their satellite and the teacher responds to calls from the students. That can be annoying because it hogs up precious time. Some teachers are great, some are slow. The books are good. Each teacher makes up their own way of grading which drove me batty. I had a hard time keeping up with it and was frustrated but that's a weakness with me anyway. I wound up not going back to it for this year. I just prefer "real" books than textbooks and have had my daughter read through and write summaries on what she's reading for history and lit. For science we use Apologia's biology course, and for math Teaching Textbooks.
Oh yeah, we didn't do the BJU option where you turn your work in. I kept all of our records.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you have specific questions and I'll try to help.
