I think there is a breaking point where people will no longer tolerate PC Lies.
The gay billboard WAS a lie. There is NO truth behind it.
We have had a cross suspended in Urine and that becomes protected art.
PETA plants billboard across from churches with crucified pigs and that free speech.
Again and again blatant bigotry and insults are hurled after Christians.
Now a despicable homosexual lie is promoted on a Billboard.
The surprise would be if it wasn't defaced!
I'm tired of a propaganda! This vandalism is a NATURAL reaction to yet another #$** lie!
What was written, gay slurs? NO! The word LIE was written.
Evil florishes when good men do nothing.
I think the operative word is "natural."

i wonder...when Christ overturned the tables of the moneychangers in the Temple, was that considered righteous anger or vandalism??

That's a good question... then again, it was his own house he was trashing.

yes, but technically it was not His stuff...(you and i both know that everything belongs to the Lord, but those who were there didn't accept Him as such).
Still..it does make you stop and think, no?

By default, everything belongs to the Lord, but I was thinking beyond just that... the Temple was, in a very particular, his Father's house.
You make a good point, and I agree that there are times when civil disobedience are justified. In this case though the blemish on the church and Christ outweighs the benefit - particularly when other options are available.

For arguement's sake, let's turn this into a parable. 'The Lord looked down on earth one day and saw a man putting up a sign for all to see that twisted His word by stating that what the Lord called an abomination, was in fact, acceptable, misleading many to believe their homosexual sins will not keep them from entering heaven. After awhile, the Lord sees another man that knows His word, become outraged that someone would try to decieve others with a lie, so he takes a can of spray paint and paints: "lie, lie, lie" over the sign. When the day comes that each of these men will stand before the Lord in judgement, who will recieve the severest judgement?

i dunno...
If I were the Holy God looking down at all these churches who run around professing to be GOD's churches and who say things like "God is still speaking" to <them> (so they can twist what the bible says to fit into their agenda), I would be REALLY REALLy angry, because these people who were claiming to be MY people, who were claiming the blood of MY son, were LYING and DUPING people into thinking that *I*, GOD, am okay with their sins. Essentially these WOLVES in sheeps clothing are leading people astray from ME. So, would I be more angry with those who put up the bb or would I be more angry with the ONE who stood up and said ENOUGH! THIS IS A LIE!....???
If I were God, I'd be more angry at those who led people astray than those who forsook the fact that it was not their property to tell people the truth.
but...i'm not God, so....i could be wrong.

and fwiw, my personal reaction is that the spraypainting has more impact than putting up dueling billboards.

true - but is vandalism the kind of impact the church should try to make?
The question really is, when does it become acceptable for a Christian (in the name of defending the Word) to break the law and deface someone else's property?
