Stopped by a gun store this weekend - boy oh boy are the shelves looking bare!!!
They had a stainless Marlin Guide Gun in .45-70 on the shelf. Man that thing shouldered and pointed nicely! I was verrryyy tempted......

What were they asking for the Marlin?
Seem to be more handguns avilable in our area. Semiauto rifles are getting sparse.

For a Marlin lever action.... yes way too much.
But then used Ranch rifles are fetching at least $550. Clips have got to be expensive too.
I remember a deactivated WWII Bazooka. If I remember correctly it was $2000.
M1 garands, are about $700 for a battered one. $1000 if ok.
Prices seem unreal right now, even used.
And to think several years ago, a local dept store was selling recovered Austrailian .303 SMLE Enfields for $65 to $100.

The thing is most people would not think like you or me because we have been in the corps. That is why I always say go for the scatter gun. You are thinking like a Marine. Most people don't.
My problem is that I can't stop thinking like one. I have collected a small arsenal. I would love to live in blind ignorance like some do and not be this way, but once dowloaded this way of thinking simply doesn't go away.
I too am a big fan of 870s and Mossbergs. I have a berg 835 3 1/2'' mag that I shoot 3 1/2'' OO buck out of. Fiber optic light collecting sights etc. It takes a small amount of mental preparation before each shot. :heh

It would be easy for me to do that. Perhaps the Lord has a special purpose for you doing those things. One thing I would recommend is really seeking the Lords will in those areas of your life. I have one gun in the house under lock and key for emergency situations, but I am not allowing myself to go farther than that.

I will admit it is an area of weakness for me. If I could find a mk19 on the black market I'd figure out a way to get it. :heh
