How much time do you think will be between Isaiah 17 and Ezekiel 38?l

Ezekiel 38-39 will be a retaliatory response to Isaiah 17. It will take the amount of time that Russia will gather a coalition together. In Isaiah 17, God uses the analogy of "rushing water" to describe the nations surrounding Israel, attacking Israel.
"Rushing water" is a fast, quick action.
In Ezekiel 38, God uses the analogy of "clouds gathering". When a storm is coming, you can see the gathering clouds in the distance, and know that its coming within time. As we know, Russia will form a coalition to come against Israel, after the nations surrounding Israel have been either severely damaged, or destroyed. As "clouds gather", so with be the gathering of this coalition led by Russia. Israel will know they are coming, it wont be a surprise. Interestingly, when military forces cross dry arid land , they create huge "clouds" of dust that are easily seen.

This whole topic seems highly speculative. I am not sure I even agree with the majority view on this anymore. The more I have studied, most of these events would seem to fit better towards the end of the tribulation.

What I have found is that I used to read the passages with the "end times outline" in mind. I was interpreting scripture through what I was already taught. When I try to make my own outline, it just doesn't fit the popular view.

Despite this being discussed a number of times in my membership here, I learn something every single time, making it seem new and fresh. I like hearing potential time lines (without dating anything of course, which no one here has) and it helps me view current events in a different light as I see things shaping up so quickly. So thanks guys :)

Wouldn't it be wild if the rapture occurred during the war?

I think Isaiah 17 indeed has to be a separate event even if its slightly before the Gog war. I say this because I think Israel is going to take some hits in the north. I wrote a small article about this.

Exerpt:
Ephraim is synonymous with Israel’s northern kingdom. It at one time was in an alliance with Damascus. These verses seem to indicate a very different looking Israel/Syria than it was in the day of Isaiah. The judgment and burden of Damascus will also affect Israel. Some say Isaiah 17 could be an event that happens at the same time as Psalm 83. Rather a subset of the effects of Psalm 83

There are alot smarter people than I here so I don't claim that my thoughts on the chapter are perfect, its just how I see it.

I do want to make one note, I don't like it when people say 'this topic has been debated many other times' or 'we have talked about this many times'. People find this site daily and to many it's all new. That's a blessing. We just need to let the oldtimers be oldtimers and new people be.. well new. It's ok to talk about something 100 times if it helps people. IMHO

There is a new thought that I have recently seen posted on this board, and I accept that it is possible. That Israel would attack Iran and damage their nuke plants badly, setting them back for quiet a while. If this happens, Iran would probably order their proxies to attack Israel leading to Isaiah 17, Psalm 83 with the destruction of Damascus, which would lead to Iran begging Russia and the Moslem nations to come to their aid, and Ezekiel 38 would be on. Some where during this time I expect the Rapture. I still lean more to the following, but can see the above happening too.

1. ISRAEL WILL NEVER ATTACK IRAN BECAUSE AS HISTORY WORKS OUT, THEY WON'T HAVE TO. GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF IRAN. THEY WON'T HAVE TOO.

2. I keep posting here that Isaiah 17, Psalm 83 (I agree that Psalm 83 is a prayer and Isaiah 17 is the answer to the prayer.) is going to come first.
Iran will have their proxies attack Israel believing that they will destroy them and protect Iran from attack, and they may be partly right, by the time Israel has finished this attack from Damascus, Gaza, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the West Bank, they will have expended most of their weapons and have to be very carefull how they use what they have left. I believe that they will have a lot of trouble getting resupplied from the US or anyone else. They will be in a dangerous position, although I don't think they will be unable to defend themselves against small attacks.

3. Rapture, This ends any help comming from the USA as all Christians that will support Israel will be gone and probably the US will be in a state of panic from having so many people missing. Some in the world will not be hurt near as bad as the US.

4. Iran will then be so afraid of Israel that they will be begging Russia, and all the other moslem nations to come help protect them from Israel. This will be the war of Gog Magog, (Ezekiel 38) and all Israel can do against the combined millions of man armies from all these nations and all their weapons. The few that might want to help Israel won't because they will be afraid that they will be attacked too. When they get to the mountains of Israel and before Israel gets to the point of having to use all her nukes to try and make these armies back off, GOD will step into the history of the world and in a very clearly Devine way will destroy all these armies and their home lands. Only one in six will escape and they will have no place to go. Israel will spent if memory serves the next nine months burying the dead and the next seven years burning the weapons or war. Sometime shortly after this the AC will make a covent for seven years with Israel and the tribulation will be here.

Dittos here, too, Katia!:wave I learning something new each and every time, also.Gog/Magog has all the makings of a fascinating subject:

-An all out war, predicted beforehand
-various nations forming deceitful alliances
-no one helps a teeny tiny country
-only the Creator of the unviverse has a visible hand in saving
-it will be a miraculous saving

Action, Suspense, Love, and Justice all wrapped into one.

It is one of those things where if it were written in the Bible as a past event, we would be inclined to be angry at all the nations for not helping and not seeing the possible destruction written on the wall, een though it would be an old story..
