Can "honest souls" be deceived?

I truly think so, and the way it's done is by not testing everthing in light of the scripture. Some of it (deception) is really wrapped up to look good. I know I've fallen into this trap previously. It's easier now than ever to be hoodwinked and not know it - that is, until you test it against Scripture.

Deuteronomy 18:10-13

10There shall not be found among you [any one] that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, [or] that useth divination, [or] an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
