Moms, I need some help. This is my THIRD child and this one is a doozer!
She's always been a sweet happy baby but lately she's been so tempermental that I'm :idunno and quite :gaah She is 14 mos old.
I'm thinking it's the age but I'm getting a bit :scratch that maybe something is wrong??
For example, today:
she'll wakes up after a full night sleep and starts eating in her high chair and she's fine but after about 10 min she empties her tray then throws the milk, and cries. So, I assume she either wants more OR she's done. Neither satisfy her and I watched that she would scoop some muffin up, eat happily, then kinda lean over and cry. (maybe she's constipated?....she went yesterday afternoon but not this AM)
Then, she will NOT let me put her down. If I do, she will completly melt down and go crazy. So, I hold her and still THAT doesn't make her happy - she's still griping.:ohno
So we go to the playroom. She still clings to me and if I motion to put her down she starts crying. So I distract her with a toy and that is good until my older daughter brings over a baby doll........she's looses it once again and cries harder trying to climb on me.
So I let her sit there and cry for 10 min. ......... still cries.
So, I pick her up and she settles down but she's still miserable. So I put her on my lap and she's calmer but just not happy. Almost afraid???
I don't get it. I'm at a loss of what to do........... this has been like this for about a month now.

Could she not be feeling well, an ear infection maybe?
Has she been left with someone besides you and your husband recently, like a babysitter? :hug
I know some kids go through separation anxiety, but I'm not sure what age that occurs, 14 mos sounds about right, but I could be wrong.

sounds like she is feeling miserable if she always been a happy baby. My son was a high need baby since birth so I always knew it was his temperament. So if it just something recently, It just mean that she doesn't feel good... or since she is about 1 years old, everything is becoming a reality to her and scary. And most babies get frustrated when they can't do thing the way they want it. kinda like this, they get upset that they can drink their bottle and drop the same bottle on the floor at the same time.
don't worry, my son was worst. cried about everything and he is fine today.

my youngest developed a milk allergy at that age the other two didnt have and had the same symptoms - take out dairy for a few days and see if it changes. Talk to her doc about other allergies. Man my girl was HARD to deal with and nothing made her happy until we found out what was wrong. My 2 yo SD has a milk allergy and my SS is allergic to almost everything, neither came on until later.

I was thinking ear infection.
My son always ended up with ear infections. It would hurt him when he chewed his food or drank anything. And he would be miserable till his first round of antibiotics.
I would take her to the doctor. My son had soo many problems with his ears that he ended up with a slight hearing problem and tubes.

Consider food allergies as well as ear infection. Your stomach, mouth, throat can hurt if it's a food allergy (my daughter has loads of them - she's now 15 and everyone carries an Epi-Pen). I would record when this happens and what was going on while/before it happened (if it's food allergy, this will help identify - keep track of what's she's eating and when). Good luck - I hope she's feeling better soon.

We have a 14 mo. old too.Every child is different;it's a challenge trying to read their signs,to guess what they are uptight about. If they're cranky, check for fever, teething, lactose intolerance, diaper rash, thrush, etc.Tylenol or motrin with fever reducer is invaluable, and if it works,it's a sure bet it's pain she's feeling. My wife has had 5,and even with her experience, she still doesn't always know what's wrong. :thumb
