I suppose I should probably just keep my mouth shut, but here goes. Our church has an IHOP and I love it. I guess I don't see what is wrong with having a place to pray 24/7..or having a group of people who are always there praying.
I wouldn't call this a cult. One of the keys to being a cult is control of its members. No one has coerced me to stay at this church and not one has tried to stop me from leaving. People come and go all the time like any other church.
I've grown more in the Lord at this church than any other church I've attended. The people here truly care about each other and look after each other. Only 2 of the of pastors are full time, but we have several pastors so that there are enough to help everyone who needs help.
I don't see a problem with all of this, but I'm sure many here will. I know I've seen God move in so many ways in this place. Do you attend a Metro City Church or Christian City Church?
And are they including praying down God's dominion perfected in the Melchizadek priesthood?

And are they including praying down God's dominion perfected in the Melchizadek priesthood?
I haven't heard anything like that. They seem to focus on praying for the church in this region and uniting the Body of Christ. We have tuesday night worship services instead of weds. so that people from other churches in the area can attend without having to choose between ours and theirs.
Our church is called Voice Ministries and its in Elkhart, Indiana.

Kansas City Fellowship (http://www.geocities.com/heartland/plains/4948/vine3is5.html)
Formed by Mike Bickel and Paul Cain. In 1991, after a great deal of concern regarding cultic/occultic/heretical beliefs and practices, the Vineyard took control of the church, arranged for an independent investigation of the church to be suspended.
The Vineyard, under John Wimber investigated themselves, declared the KCF to be sound, and incorporated them into the Vineyard as the Kansas City Metro Vineyard Fellowship.
The church split with the Vineyard in 1996 after the Vineyard and the TACF parted ways. The church is now know as the Metro City Fellowship.
Most leaders in the KCF have now become the most prominent leaders in the Vineyard.
The theology of this movement appears to consist of:
- Real purpose of God is a church which provides redemption for our sins. Salvation through the sacrifice of Christ is secondary.
- Manifest sons of God/New Breed: We will be manifested as sons of God in our glorified bodies while here on earth, to permit us to take the world for Christ. The doctrine teaches that these Sons will be equal to Jesus Christ in every way. They will be immortal, sinless, perfected sons who have partaken of the divine nature. They have every right to be called gods, and they are.
- Restoration Theology. the church is slowly restoring theology and offices of early church. until we have completed this process and perfected the church, Christ cannot return.
- Christians will become "gods".
- Church will conquer Satan, and put an end to death (not Christ).
- Dominion/Kingdom Now theology: We are to conquer and dominate the world in order to bring in the Millennium.
- Jesus is optional as ruler during the millennium since the church is the "corporate Christ", and therefore as the body of Christ is and has all that Christ is and has.
- Churches currently operating should join the KCF, then be shut down, until only a single church leadership remains in each city.
- Re-establishment of the office of prophet in the church.
- Prophets are required to be only 66% accurate (By revelation from God - God said to Bob Jones that he will supply false prophecies one third of the time).
- Apostolic control (i.e. the leadership of the church tells you what to believe - their word is as good as scripture).
- Believers incapable of properly understanding scripture.
- See also William Branham, Latter Rain movement and Manifest Sons of God.
- Denominations are the mark of the beast.

Is a Cult and nothing more. I have researched them deeply. My niece is a deceived member in their charade. They teach the Church will go through the Tribulation.
They are forcing my niece to cut all ties with her family. They are trying to force her into their foreign missions. They made her quit her job to become a more enlightened member. They are charging her $2500 to attend their brainwashing school.
Bickle is in trouble with the IRS. The list goes on research them on the web, the trail stinks.:hehee

We had attended an AOG church for a few years. Our head pastor always promised he would protect us from error...
But in reality this is what we found to be the case.
One of the pastors (a woman) would always say she belonged to "another denomination" but would never say which one. Turns out it was WOF, she got her license via a home study course. She selectively let a few people she could "trust" know the truth.
Our church started but did not finish 40 days of Purpose.
Our church is seeker sensitive, having many family activities that make people feel comfortable and welcome. Our pastor has a plan to increase church membership by strategy not genuine repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We had plays (as part of every sermon every Sunday for years) to lead people to Christ, instead of solid Bible teaching.
Our head pastor talked about this wonderful couple from our church going to this wonderful place to learn how to pray. Turns out it was I.H.O.P.
I was curious as I had never heard about I.H.O.P before. I started researching I.H.O.P. and Mike Bickle and came across the same information posted here.
I was shocked and concerned thinking our poor pastor was being hoodwinked (he did make a comment once during a sermon that he lacked "discernment").
I called our head pastor and simply asked him if he was aware of Mike Bickle's association to the Kansas prophets and the Toronto Blessing.
He told me he would "check it out."
He called me back; his voice was oddly soothing and plastic as he said I have nothing to worry about, he's checked everything out and everything is ok, all this happened back in the 1970s. (This was in regards to the admitted falsehoods spread during the Toronto Blessing movement.) It was so long ago and everyone has changed.
No, this happened in the 1990s. Was my pastor lying to me?
The Toronto Blessing just got a little out of hand, he said, but I.H.O.P. really is the move of God. It's only prayer after all and prayer is a good thing.
One Sunday we had an instructor come from I.H.O.P. to preach. It was like listening to a demon. Afterwards they invited people to come up and be prophesied over. It was demonic. They were practicing magic art as they told you things only you knew and had secret revelation from God for you.
The Lord had completely lifted the veil and I saw clearly what our church really was.
This church that I had been attending, the loving people who helped me during one of the most difficult times of my life, was deep into the apostasy.
The Lord opened my eyes to the "half-truths" and "subtle hints" that always made me feel uneasy. I had never heard about WOF, I.H.O.P. etc before.
We left that church fast. We are attending a solid Bible teaching Baptist church that has no contemporary Christian Praise and worship, no 40 days of purpose, no seeker sensitive agenda, no half truths and lies, no teachings of doctrines of demons.
My first hand observations of what I learned during the time I was at the AOG church.
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
1. The Lord showed me first hand that we are deep into the apostasy. I always thought that the apostasy would be so obvious it would slap you in the face.
2. Those involved are very sincere (and forceful) about doing what they believe is God's will. The problem is they are deadly wrong and are leading congregations into hell with them. One phrase the female pastor said once was "I want to be the next Joyce Meyers". -Not, "I want to serve Christ", not "His will be done". I believe these leaders really know what they are doing and have an agenda. I know that our pastors had an agenda.
3. Those involved in the apostasy will tell half-truths and lie. During all of the sermons preached our head pastor would make odd statements that left the congregation shocked or confused. God is not the author of confusion. Many times he would apologize the following week after his wife had corrected him.
4. Those involved in the apostasy will be greatly offended if you question anything they do, even in asking an innocent question. They will use the phrase "touch not my anointed" as a vague shield of defense. Our pastors did often.
5. The Lord will reveal the truth about these false teachers. It is our responsibility to discern and flee false teaching. The innocent days of the past when a church was a church can't be assumed anymore. Most churches aren't real churches now.
Well, I could go on.
I am grateful for the direction the Lord has taken this bulletin board. It has become a beacon of light and truth in this darkening world.
What the body of Christ needs to do is pray, return to the Word of God, flee anything that would hinder your walk with the Lord, this includes established friendships with "Christians" that are being deceived.
We are responsible for who we listen to.
Joshua 3:9
Joshua said to the Israelites, "Come here and listen to the words of the LORD your God.
Proverbs 8:33
Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it.
2 Timothy 3
Perilous Times and Perilous Men
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts,
7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith;
9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

IHOP is filled with very evil practices that are unscriptural.
If you would take a look at their website you will find all sorts of INCORRECT and CULT practices.
Here is a small example of "contemplative prayer practice" that is wrong:
Choose a short story in Scripture.
Read through the story several times silently.
Close your eyes and acknowledge the Spirit who lives in you.
Use your imagination to imagine yourself as one of the story characters or as an onlooker.
Play out the story in your mind applying all five of your senses.
We call this "Beholding the Spirit Within." :tsk
The goal is to search for and feel God’s presence inside you, not necessarily to gain more understanding in God’s Word as with the first two methods.
Begin by gently praying a short passage of Scripture in silence while focusing on the indwelling Spirit. The Scripture is used to quiet the clamoring of your soul and draw you to God. It is the connection point, the springboard into the spiritual realm.
Once you feel God’s presence, focus on it in a concentrated way.
You will be able to notice His presence now; He has always been there, but now your attention is on Him within you. The outward senses are quiet and your surface thoughts are gone. You are beginning to be consumed by the Spirit.
In this time, feel the freedom to stay quiet, silently ask the Spirit to show you a vision, or slowly and silently say to Him, “I love You. I love You. I love You.” HERE IS THEIR LINK ON THIS! -->> http://www.ihop.org/Publisher/Article.aspx?id=1000000385
This is centering prayer, a private prayer practice, including summoning a "spirit" and including mantras.
What does Matt. 6:7 tell us:
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking
and the believer (one who has repented and asked Jesus to be their Lord and Savior) is immediately indwelled by the Holy Spirit! Immediately and forever!
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever John 14:16
and how do we pray? Certainly not "centering" and bringing down SOME spirit! :tsk
Here, we are shown how to pray:
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time Heb 4:6
NO mind needs to be emptied in ordered to be filled by some "spirit"
This is satanic talk, period!
IHOP also includes a "dreams and visions" page.. another scritural inaccuracy for this "churchage".
Joel 2:28 and Acts 2:17 reveal that these occurences are DURING the Tribulation period. NOT NOW!
