Sunday night, after hearing a wonderful sermon by Pastor John MacArthur,I thought of this scene as I was reflecting a little on our pilgrimage down here...
Imagine a bunch of sheep are grazing in and wandering through a field where
the grass is getting a little sparse and there are two different gates;one is wide-easy to go through, and the grass on the other side is very abundant and green and lush. There is no problem getting through this gate, because it's very wide since most of the sheep are following each other blindly through this gate;however they don't see, that the lush, green grass is very short lived and there is nothing beyond this but a desert-like land completely void of streams of water and food, even the sun doesn't seem to shine very much there, actually not at all. It is certain and sudden death for these blind sheep after they have had all the pleasure of gorging themselves on the "greener grass".
Then, there is another gate-and this gate is much harder to get not only through;but to.
Very, very few sheep find this gate since they will have to walk through all the other sheep going in the other direction, and many of the sheep that start often stumble and get tired and worn out-because their focus isn't squarely on their loving shephard who is lovingly calling to them from just inside this narrow gate,so they instead get caught up in the mass of sheep heading to the wide gate.
The few that do make it to the narrow gate have a journey to take too, once they make it inside the gate, their loving, protective shephard has to lead them through some pretty rocky terrain at times, uphill, downhill, through the desert, through the valleys, sometimes very thirsty and hungry-but all the while, being carefuly lead by their shephard who is leading them through all this to the finest, most abundant field,clear-fresh streams of water,a home for eternity that was carefully designed and planned just for them!!!
This is to me,symbolic of what it is like down here for us!
I am so thankful to Jesus,my Shephard for drawing me to Him and for leading me through that narrow gate and for holding me in His arms as He leads me to my Heavenly home!!! :yay :pray

I am so thankful for all of your posts allforHim,:hug
You love the Lord and it is contagious!!! :yeah!
I forgot to include helping other sheep to find their way to the narrow gate in my silly little "story"! That story was just my way of trying to help my two youngest children understand the sermon that they had just listened to with me,and thought I might share it.
Here is a "Shepherd" verse that I just love with all my soul...
Isaiah 40:11
"He shall feed his flock like
a shepherd:He shall gather the lambs with His arm,and carry
them in His bosom, and shall gently
lead those that are with young."
