The Genealogy of the Antichrist

Waiting in the wings of the forthcoming global turmoil is the Man with a Plan--the one whom the world will welcome to resolve its many problems. The Bible gives us many provocative clues to his identity, and from many prophetic glimpses his genealogical line may prove to be traceable.

Daniel 7, Daniel 8 and Daniel 11 describe the career of Alexander the Great and his successors so vividly they constitute some of the most remarkable prophecies in the Bible. We also find that Alexander's four generals--Lysimachus, Cassander,Ptolemy, and Seleucus--divide the empire after his death just as the passages indicated.

As Israel is sandwiched by the subsequent tensions between Ptolemy (Egypt) to the south and Seleucus (Syria) to the north, it is also amazing to note the precision with which Daniel records their respective successors in Daniel 11:3

Antiochus Epiphanes
The Seleucid ruler that figures so prominently in Biblical studies is, of course, Antiochus IV, who also adopted the label Epiphanes or Coming One. Committed to crushing Judaism, he outlawed the keeping of the Torah, persecuted the Jews, and confirmed his place in history by having a sow on the sacred altar in the Temple in Jerusalem and placing an idol to Zeus inside the Holy of Holies itself. This desecration is known specifically as The Abomination of Desolation.

The consequent outrage led to the famed Maccabbean revolt which success fully threw off the yoke of the Greek rulers and ushered in the Hasmonean period of Israel's history. On the third anniversary of the Temple's desecration, on the 25th of Kislev, 165 BC, the Temple was rededicated. This rededication is celebrated to this very day as Hanukkah.

This historical event took on additional prophetic significance two centuries later when four disciples received a private briefing by Jesus Himself on the Second Coming, in which Jesus alluded to a future reoccurrence of a similar desecration as the key to all end-time prophecy. This repetition of the Abomination of Desolation is the central milestone in the middle of the climactic seven-year period comprising the Seventieth Week of Daniel 9:6

However, as so often occurs in Biblical prophecy, many times the immediate, local application of a passage clearly transcends the context to yield a glimpse of a larger, more climactic application. While the passage in Daniel 11:1-35has clearly been historically fulfilled, Daniel 11:36-45 seem to strangely overlap both the career of Antiochus Epiphanes of the past and also the final world ruler, portrayed as the Willful King.

After the horrible reign of Antiochus IV, the Seleucid line continued under the same title, with Antiochus V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, and XIII. The Seleucid dynasty came to an end in 63 BC, when Pompey declared that Syria would become a Roman province. However, the descendants of the Seleucids continued in importance and became intertwined with the Herodians and the royal houses of Rome.

The Prince That Shall Come
The Coming World Leader--commonly known as the Antichrist - has 33 titles in the Old Testament and 13 in the New Testament. One of these, The Prince That Shall Come, comes from Daniel 9:26-27 in which the people of the Prince that shall come would destroy the city and the sanctuary. The fulfillment occurred in history when the Roman legions under Titus Vespasian destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 A.D.

This reflexive reference to the Romans in Daniel 9:26 is one of several reasons why most Bible scholars view the future Prince that shall come as a Roman, or European.

A Continuous Genealogy?
A genealogical link between the original Antiochus Epiphanes and Titus Vespasian would not be surprising, and yet it is very provocative. But there may be more.

In the fifth century the royal line of the Franks intermarried with the Merovingian dynasty, which ultimately links with the family trees of the Habsburgs, the House of Lorraine, Plantard, Luxembourg, Pont‚zat, Montesquieu, Sinclair, Stuarts, and most of the royal families of Europe. Among contemporary luminaries are Otto von Habsburg of Austria and his son, Karl, and King Juan Carlos I of Spain and his son, Felipe.

The Magdalene Blasphemy
There are a number of occultic groups that hold to the outrageous suggestion that the Merovingian line is directly linked to offspring from Jesus and Mary Magdalene. While obviously a blasphemous lie, it is interesting that there are people who take this seriously. Could this Satanic delusion have an end-time purpose?

A Candidate on the Horizon?
History is littered with speculations as to the identity of this final Coming World Leader. While there still remains a 378-year void in the span between Vespasian (69 a.d.) and the reign of Merovee (beginning in 447 a.d.), there may be dusty documents lying in some library that might validate the implied linkage. Let's watch and see.

The more one studies the numerous references to this Man of Destiny in the Scriptures, and the more one examines the many details of the scenario that surrounds his career, the more it appears that the world is plunging into the period in which he will become the man of the hour. Many of the most knowledgeable commentators believe he may be alive today.

He will be the master of deceit (even more than the politicians who presently dominate the District of Corruption!). Jesus warned us that if it were possible he would deceive the very elect. Our protection must be spiritual, not just intellectual.

However, we don't believe that the Coming World Leader will be revealed until after the Rapture of the Church.

It certainly is an exciting time to find out what the Bible really says about the times in which we live! Scripture tells us not to be ignorant of Satan's devices.

But let us remember to focus our attention on our Blessed Hope, our reigning King, and not on the imposter who is destined for destruction.

Christy ~ I am glad to see that you are on the khouse site. I certainly have gleaned a lot from there over the years. BUT...have you read the newest from Chuck Missler about the anti-christ? He has changed his mind about the origins and rightly so as the Bible calls the AC the Assyrian in many places. I think the new thoughts are in his An alternative ending: the anit-christ from the Middle East?

True, Mystery Babylon will go into perdition, but the story in Zachariah plainly states that the Ephah was taken to the plains of Shinar. This is in Iraq. This was also the capital of Assyria. And Assyria encompassed the areas in modern eastern Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, western Iran, Kuwait and Egypt.
Watch Turkey. They are trying to get into the EU and have gone to great lengths to do so. They tout themselves as both European and Middle Eastern. They also present themselves as the 'gateway' between both worlds.
I am not saying that Turkey is Mystery Babylon. I am saying that I am watching Turkey as a place for the AC to arise.

Iraq was known as Babylon which encompassed Assyria. The vessel now resides in the new Babylon, i.e., Mystery Babylon. The Land of Shinar is clearly Mesopotamian, i.e., Babylonian: (The Bible makes a clear distinction that there is another Babylonian kingdom in the end days that mimics Old Babylon - Isaiah 13, Revelation 17, Revelation 18).

Shinar (Hebrew שִׁנְעָר Šin`ar, Septuagint Σεννααρ Sennaar) is a broad designation applied to Mesopotamia, occurring eight times in the Hebrew Bible. In the Book of Genesis 10:10, the beginning of Nimrod's kingdom is said to have been "Babel, and Uruk, and Akkad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar." The following chapter, Genesis 11:2, states that Shinar was a plain settled after the flood, where mankind, still speaking one language, built the Tower of Babel. In Genesis 14:1,9 Shinar is the land ruled by king Amraphel, usually identified with Hammurabi who reigned in Babylon. "Shinar" is further mentioned in Joshua 7:21; Isaiah 11:11; and Zechariah 5:11, as a general synonym for Babylonia.

As far as proof concerning that Assyria was part of Babylon is concerned:

730 BC: Babylon and Babylonia falls to the Assyrians, and become a province in the Assyrian Empire.
689 BC : King Sennacherib of Assyria has Babylon destroyed and flooded.
675 BC : Babylon is rebuilt by the Assyrian king Esarhaddon.
625 BC : Captured by the Chaldeans.
605-562 BC : Reign of Nebuchadnezzar II who extends the kingdom of Babylonia to Israel and Syria. (Meaning that he conquered both and ruled over both).

Please feel free to check this up in any history book.

And Assyria encompassed the areas in modern eastern Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, western Iran, Kuwait and Egypt.

The only problem with this is (apart from the historical facts concerning Assyria's geography that is - as historically it cannot be placed in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon) that Mystery Babylon is Israel's ally, not foe, and these are all clearly foes of the Holy Land. The Bible states that this ally clearly betrays Israel. Most Bible scholars agree on this point as well.

Obadiah 1:7 - All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.

Confederacy = Ally. There's a difference to this and to those who have signed a peace treaty with Israel.

Secondly, I can't imagine there being many Jews in Turkey or any of these countries, as God clearly tells them to come out of "her", so it's a very large contingent of Jews He is speaking to, residing in "Mystery Babylon". One only has to look where the largest numbers outside of Israel are living to answer this.

Revelation 18:4 - And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

People always state that the Beast will rise out of 10 nations, but this isn't true - He gives those 10 nations their power after he has risen to power.

Revelation 17:12: And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

There are 3 Babylons which emanate from Mystery Babylon : Politcal Babylon, Commercial Babylon and Religious Babylon which sits on 7 mountains, i.e., 7 continents. (worldwide),

Mystery Babylon has a prophetic role to play. Its economy is incredibly resilient in spite of the many danger signs. If you understand prophecy and the nature of the latter day Babylonian Empire, you will realise what an enigma it is. It is the consumer nation, the military behemoth, Israel’s friend, the good guy and the bully on the block. It is the dominant nation in the earth and there is no one even close.

Let’s think about the identity of Mystery Babylon. The first nation that comes to mind has got to be Iraq and that is kind of ruled out for now. (For obvious reasons). Conventional wisdom tells us it's Western Europe, but they aren’t really a unified nation but a collage of countries forming a loose trading union. They could hardly be described as a great consumer nation. They hardly have a worldwide presence, an offensive military and besides, they are so post-Christian, their churches are all but empty. That leaves Russia – hardly that powerful or Christian, and China and India are just beginning to emerge and are not Christian either.

Babylon will have a major enemy to her north (Jeremiah 50:3, Jeremiah 50:9, Jeremiah 50:41).
The enemy of Babylon will also have a huge aviation military machine (Jeremiah 50:9-14, Revelation 18:8, 18)

I assume that the point is to make Babylon = America.

Are these your own interpretations of scripture, Christy? Because I have read all these supporting verses & studied the definitions of key Hebrew/Greek words in them. Some of these conclusions make sense from the text, others are reaching, and some are pulling information from Scripture that is just not there at all......

Examples:

Babylon will have been a huge missionary nation for Jesus Christ (Jeremiah 50:11; Jeremiah 51:7).

Jer 50:11 ¶ Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;
Jer 51:7 Babylon [hath been] a golden cup in the LORD'S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

To this interpretation I have to say...um...what?

Babylon is a virgin nation, her land untouched by major war (Isaiah 47:1)

""Come down and sit in the dust,
O virgin daughter of Babylon;
Sit on the ground without a throne,
O daughter of the Chaldeans!
For you shall no more be called
Tender and delicate."

Interesting that America is currently occupying the land of the original Babylon without a throne, and has built a giant embassy there. We literally came down to sit in Iraq's dust. However, I cannot pull anything out of "virgin" in this verse that has anything to do with America not having fought a major war in her own land. Virgin simply means virgin here in a sexual sense, in the original Hebrew. In any case, it says "daughter of" Babylon, not Babylon itself.

Babylon sets of detention centers for Jews and Christians and rounds them up for extermination (Jeremiah 50:7-33; Jeremiah 51:35-49; Revelation 17:6; 18:24).

I personally believe this is true....Revelations does say believers in Christ will be martyred (beheaded, specifically) for our faith during the Tribulation. It stands to reason that they would have to be rounded up beforehand, like the Jews were during the Holocaust, in order to be systematically murdered.

However, the text support is simply not there. The passages in Jeremiah are talking about the destruction of Babylon by a country in the North, and how Israel's shepherds (leaders) have led her astray. Jeremiah 51:40 is the closest thing I could find...but it says how God will bring them (Babylonians) down like lambs to the slaughter...this does not equal Babylon putting Christians in concentration camps.

Similarly, "And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration." Rev 18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth."

The conclusion is just not there.

One of the ideas I *do* agree with is the interpretation of -

Isa 47:12. "Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail."

Enchantments, from the Hebrew lexicon:
1) association, company, band
2) shared, association, society
3) a magician, charmer, spell

Sorceries:
1) sorcery, witchcraft

America was founded by members of the Masonic society....if one doubts that profit was involved, just look at the Masonic pyramid and all-seeing eye symbols on the back of a dollar bill. They control the U.S. Treasury. I believe from my personal study that the Great Pyramid was built if not directly by God, then under His instructions, because it is full of Biblical symbolism if you do a study on its measurements and its inner chambers.

The casing stones, 144,000 in all, were so brilliant that they could literally be seen from the mountains of Israel hundreds of miles away. On bright mornings and late afternoons, sunlight reflected by this vast mirrored surface of 5-1/4 acres distinguished the Pyramid as being visible from the moon.
(Note: For those interested in possible symbolic significance, in Bible prophecy 144,000 is the number of people-12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel-who are supposed to evangelize the world at the endtime.)

It is missing its capstone, and no one knows why...verses in the Bible call Jesus "the capstone." I think that the smaller pyramids, and the pyramid shape in occultism, is Satan imitating and perverting what God has set up. I recently realized what the all-seeing eye means as well, from this verse......

"Zec 11:17 Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword [shall be] upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened. "

This is speaking of the Antichrist - he is the opposite of the Good Shepherd, Jesus. I believe the head wound spoken of in Revelation is clarified here to include a lame arm and a blind right eye.

The all-seeing eye is a left eye, if you notice.

The whole Masonic symbol on the dollar bill is a promotion of the Antichrist and a mockery of Jesus.

It's quite obvious that everyone sees the canary in the picture, i.e., EU, but what Mystery Babylon encompasses is Greco-Roman civilisation, it's an end-time super power, it encompasses the Babylonian religion and social sphere, it's a SINGLE nation as the Bible will tell you - it's the elephant in the picture that most people refuse to see. And if you saw America there that's your interpretation - I didn't give it a name at all. It takes approximately 200 years for an empire to be built - the EU is how old now? The EU is currently a mismatch excuse for Mystery Babylon as France hasn't accepted it's constitution, and the UK is clearly aligned with the US - ask the EU, they'll tell you. Clearly biblical prophecy plays around Israel and who is aligned with her - as her foe or ally. Check it out. Don't believe anything I say or my "interpretation" of scripture - study the Bible for yourself. It tells us of an end-time church that is patriotic and is aligned to Mystery Babylon, after all Revelation tells us Mystery Babylon (the harlot) rides the beast - it's the biggest deception of all time.
