Does it bother you that Hal Lindsey sells stuff as well?

Because a person sells CDs and books as part of their ministry does that make them less credible?

I would suspect it must be very expensive to buy television air time.

Sorry my bad, I shouldn't have taken it in this direction.

Be wary. I have defended him in the past and still like to listen to him from time to time, but his defense of the Roman Catholic Church and the pope is concerning.
That has been going on for several years.

littlesmom,

I just asked because I see this criticism of Jack a good bit, and never see it mentioned about Hal. I don't think either should be criticised, because as iamabliever says, they have to pay for the airtime.

But you are right in that Jack does seem to use more of the broadcast time asking for donations (through the "offer of the week") than Hal does. But that's just a difference of style and not a difference of integrity.

Van Impe talks too fast for me.

:lol2

He does have a rapid fire approach to quoting and listing verses!

I know what most think about Jack Van Impe, and we share the same view, but unfortuantely we were at a family members house who thinks he's the bees knees. A dvd was put on where Jack and the delightful Rexella were explaining about the end of the world on 21st December 2012. He was talking about Mother Shipton (a witch) and saying she definately believed the bible as her predictions were so accurate. Also a witch called the Sybil who made accurate predictions. He then went on to say that these people really knew the Word of God and he was supporting them :doh
Then he went on to champion Nostadamus and we got up and left. My point is, what on earth is this man doing? The family member concerned told us we were on "dodgy ground" for not believing what Jack says. So I thought I'd post here to get some common sense. I cant understand why this 2012 thing has circulated among the christian world, when it has stemmed from unbelievers. :scratch

Same reason the TBN pro(fets)phets make false predictions over and over and people still swear by those people. They get all wrapped up with a mere man and claim he's the end all - be all of prophecy. They aren't grounded in the Word of God enough to shake a stick at so they'll listen to people getting words from dead people (Hinn) and/or JVI going gaga over the Catholic Catechism, witches, and Michelle De Nostradamme. Deception and lack of discernment plus being only moderately knowledgeable about what The Bible has to say about false prophets and those who use unGodly sources for reference to things supernatural and accepted them as doctrine can only create destruction. Sola Scriptura has gone out the window in many places.

OK so the next time you visit this dear family member, take your Bible and show her the so-called "dodgy ground" you are standing on, rather than Jack Van Impe and his witches.

Show her the verses that say that witches, sorcerers, and those who practise magic arts will NOT inherit the kingdom of God.

Revelation 9: 20The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.

Revelation 21: 8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Revelation 22: 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

The true test will be if she takes Van Impe's (or any other man's) word over the word of the Bible, if so, sadly *she* is the one on "dodgy ground".

Wow, sadly, Jack has gone off the deep end. He used to stand up against Roman Catholics and other false teachings, but now defending a witch and talking about 2012? :scratch

Thanks Nightelf, we'd love to show them those scriptures. :heh
But the last time we got into a discussion about the fact that Hebrews 6 does not refer to loss of salvation, we were faced with such a tyrade of insults, I think if we hadn't walked out, they may have physically attacked us. Just wanted reassurance from our RR family that we're not the ones being deceived. And you've done that! :hug
