I do hear him quote: "no one knows the day nor hour" he says something could happen. Why don't you ask him yourself, he does do a "Question of the Week" on his website. Ask him about 2012 and if he's date setting. Challenge him. If everyone here gives an input, he's bound to answer it. :thumb

They are 2 individuals who are entirely committed to and sold out for Christ who just happen to have a few strange beliefs. I have been listening to them off and on for the past 10 years and have never heard them actually set any dates (close, but not quite). If you disagree on this point, I would appreciate it if you could provide some evidence to support your claims. A lot of "conjecture" involved in their views but nothing that would be dangerous to one's faith.
I am certain that many, many people have come to the Lord through their ministry.
I have a serious question that I want to pose to those who are ok with criticizing other ministers by name: How many people have you directly lead to the Lord this month? This year? All of last year?
I am not asking to be judgmental, I am just very curious about the answer. Kind of like a study or poll.
If I bring one person to Heaven with me my life would have meant something.:preach
I do know one thing about the Van Impe's, they love JESUS!!!:yeah

I can't believe that people don't watch him because of date setting..wowowo..every Christian board I go on they are date setting..and when the date comes and goes without the rapture happening ..they just say ..we are just watching.
Not on this Christian board. If someone tries to date set, the thread is locked, or deleted. It ruins our credibility when dates are set and they come and go. Yes, we say we are watching, but none of us know, nor will we speculate on the date.

I was a huge supporter up until 1999 or so and then began to feel uncomfortable with some of his teachings on Nostradamus, the Pope and I believe he does date set, even offering tapes for the dates that of course, come and go. That's a red flag with me. I don't believe they're not Christians, but I believe that somewhere along the way he got his head into outer space, telling the viewers there are probably aliens and other planets and other people on those planets??? .
Same here. They lost me with the Nostradamus and Pope stuff. This was about the time of the "Y2K" nonsense. I rarely see them on the tube anymore...the last time I did, I watched about 10 minutes of it and they were trying to sell some tape somehow tying in the Mayan calendar of 2012 to prophesy in some way. I just flipped the channel.

I don't think a sincere Christian would ever set a date. They know better.

My two cents:
Jack Van Impe seems to appeal to those who come from the Catholic church. It is a good thing that there is someone who reaches Catholics and who Catholics trust. After all, there are people in the Catholic church who seem to have a personal relationship with Jesus, but I'm pretty sure there's not much End Time teaching among Catholics. ...At least he is a voice to "watch at the gates" even if he is a little corny!

Paul said not to be many teachers as they will receive a stricter judgment. a Christian minister in the very public eye (e.g. someone with his own t.v. show) is held up to a higher scruntiny, right or wrong, that's just how it is. JVI confesses freely that he is a sinner saved by grace---as are we all. but he also does quote popes, nostradamus and the mayan calendar and this is error and should be exposed as such. does this make his entire ministry void and without merit? no. take him as a gifted teacher but it's our job to weigh eveything jack---or any other preacher---says against Scripture as the final authority. i'm sure he would agree and covet our prayers.

I wanted to give you a reply
if it's okay and I totally
see
where you are coming from on
this point. But something people
need to understand is, when
someone is a minister of the gospel
they have a huge, huge responsibility
to preach the truth in season.
It's okay to hold them accountable. In fact I think we should, not in a mean way. Not at all.
I have absolutely nothing against
Jack and his wife and believe they
are committed Christians but I have
heard him say 2012 over and over again
as the year of the rapture. He has tapes
with the year as the name of the tape!!!
Do a search of his items for sale. I'm not
making this up. My husband
has also watched it with me.
And in years past, he's named
other years. He had done this!
As far as how many people
say for instance myself have
led to the Lord this month.
The answer to that would be one person.
Not very award winning.
I'm vision impaired, I don't
own a television ministry and
I'm not seen by millions of people on weekly. In fact, other than the postman and the gal at Subway, I don't meet or socialize with many people.
I simply do not have the capability
to reach that many people.
I can't even drive after dark!
But seriously, I think it's okay
to point out when someone seems
to be getting into a gray area.
It doesn't mean we don't love
them (Jack and Rexella) any less
or that we're attacking them.
But he has been very much embracing
a lot of Catholic teaching and he
has promoted more than one
year as being "it"
Your question is a legitimate
and made me think. Thank you.
Maybe my reply before sounded
too harsh and if it did, I didn't
mean it to be that way toward
the Van Impes, I just think some
of this statements are a little
weird. But I do believe people
have been saved through their
telecast. In fact it's because of that
very fact I would like them to
stay on the right path and continue
until Jesus comes.

well, you know, a hundred different boards doesn't make something right, I don't go around to other
boards so I don't know
but think of this. Maybe the people
who are posting there are simply
not into prophecy enough to know
that we are not supposed to
set dates. Would that be a reason
not to watch? Well, it's a red flag.
There's a difference between
"watching" and circling a date
on the calendar.
There are so many reasons this
is wrong. God told us no one know.
He didn't say someone would
have it revealed to them, or
that at such and such a time,
it would be foretold. He said
NO MAN KNOWS. So to go against
that is to completely dismiss
what God taught and make a
new gospel. It's exactly what
the end times ....itching ears,
not willing to endure sound doctrine.
Man wants to figure it out, man
wants to be in control.
We're just to watch, be joyful,
hopeful, and above all lead
souls to Christ, love one another.
Don't forget to love one another.
I can't believe that people don't watch him because of date setting..wowowo..every Christian board I go on they are date setting..and when the date comes and goes without the rapture happening ..they just say ..we are just watching.

Thanks for the heartfelt response. Though I must disagree with you when you state that Jack is saying the rapture will occur in 2012, I purchased the 2012 video in part because I was concerned that-that was what he was trying to say. On the contrary, he makes it very clear that the rapture could take place at any moment. The point of the 2012 video (after having watched it) is that the rapture of the church is imminent and he breaks down how many of the WORLDS prognosticators and signs point to some major event in 2012, many of them stating that the world would come to an end. He refutes that claim showing that the world will never end but rather that Christ will return to setup his kingdom on the earth. He also shows that many of the prognosticators took much of their information from the bible, but didn't necessarily give the Bible credit for their predictions.
He also states that the reason he is even addressing the subject is because he regularly gets questions from people about 2012, Nostradamus, and the mayan calendar. I appreciate having a biblical viewpoint on POSSIBLE reasons for anomalies such as stonehenge, the pyramids, and the mayan calendar, from someone who has the Holy Spirit dwelling within them (Lindsey, Missler, VanImpe) rather than some unbiblical perspective offered by the world (history/discover channel). Always keeping in mind that some of this stuff is for entertainment purposes only.
Now, does he talk about some weird stuff in the 2012 video? He sure does, but again, nothing that would harm someone's faith in Jesus Christ. More than this, I truly believe that many unsaved people who get the 2012 video to find out more on these wacky things are sucker punched with a powerful presentation of the gospel (throughout the entire video).
