The dude is off the deep end, and hurting the Kingdom by continually giving dates, just like 1999 when he said the Rapture was going to happen in 2000 or right before.

Well, "the dude" is approaching 80, and obviously must be forgetting a lot of what he has said in the past.

...Jack Van Impe...started really pushing the Mayan Calendar...Actually, he only seems fascinated that the Mayan's could come up with something that apparently seems to corroborate the Bible, but he also says that only the Bible is trustworthy and other things have to be judged by the Bible.

But he needs financial support and he does use words in ways designed to encourage people to buy his video messages, since that is what helps pay the TV people.

JVI is just one of the many who have jumped on the pagan prophecy & 2012 bandwagon. There are many reasons not to like that, but we've had that thread over in the apostasy section already I think.

I've seen his show, and honestly it looks to me like an infomercial for whichever particular DVD they're trying to sell at the moment. Mind you, this is coming from someone who works graveyard shift and sees a *lot* of infomercials.

Heh, they have all this *wonderful* and *important* information that you just *have* to hear, but they don't have time now so just buy the DVD for $xx.xx to have access this new incredible teaching today!

The 'making merchandise of the flock' comes to mind, to be honest. That might be a bit harsh, but we'll find out in the end if it's accurate or not.

healing sells

Buzzardhut I agree!

You are mostly like to get a crowd out if you have a prophecy conferences, healing meetings or an emotionally-triggered make me feel good meetings, but you will have a harder time to get a handful of those who would come to church for prayer meeting, or going out to invite neighbors to come to church or going to witness to those who are lost?

Let this not be known about us on this board!:hug

Time (2012) will tell if they are correct in the meantime they are on their way to

Anyone have any thoughts and opinions on him? He can be a little quirky, but seems to love Jesus and knows prophecy scripture. On one of his recent programs, he went as far as to say that 'this is it' (rapture in the next few years) for sure, and that he is probably going to live to see it happen.

VanImpy is the only prophecy show I can get, by the time he's on, I'M HUNGRY for some prophecy, he seems to know much of what I hear here. Just have to like I read, 'take out the meat and throw the bones out'
