The Shofar

Distantly, I hear it!
An unexpected tendril of sound, uncoiling up with the upward curling waves.
Following around the edges of the fine frothy pools, and floating in the light above the outward flowing tide.
Closer now...
Yes, there again I hear it! ...and again!

Am I to now awaken? have I not won my dreamless sleep?
...and yet I'm called and so I will joyously obey.
With love, we are gently pushed forward.

Than with all my earthy neighbors we step forward into the upward flowing light.

Thanks for posting this very moving video. The sound of the shofar is haunting and somehow very familiar. I find it that hearing it brings tears to my eyes.

Thank you also for your compliments on my poem. It is that wild clear tendril of sound that I was trying to capture with words in the first part of the poem.
