Hi ladies,
I work part time outside the home, help my husband with our small farm and also homeschool our three kids. I am a very busy mom.

Can you make any recommendations for a more structured history curriculum that is not SOS or ABEKA? My son will be in 6th grade next year.

Thus far I've been reading many history books to him aloud and doing projects here and there. I still read aloud to him but not nearly as much as I was before.

Thanks! :hat

All American History or Mystery of History.

If you want really structured, then Bob Jones has a very good history curriculum.

We'll be trying the Bob Jones distance learning (DVD) next year -- 6th grade -- (which includes history. I am needing her to learn from an instructor who actually knows something other than her mom, who must have been passing notes in history . . .

I appreciate the replies. I will be going to a used curriculum sale this Friday. I'll see what I can find there.

God bless!

Check out Ambleside Online. This would be especially handy if you are near a good library...

I would like to add that when you look at this you will probably find it completely overwhelming! I have 4 college degrees and didn't do all of the stuff that is in the 6th grade curriculum. I would say to use it as a guide and pick and choose for youself what your focus will be. Mind you that the public schools do almost NONE of this. Ditto for the private schools although they do cover more of the classics.

Yes, I'm very close to a library and also have an extensive personal library as well.

Thank you, I'll check it out!

Blessings,
