Hello Rachelsdream, I think it is wonderful how the Lord is moving in your heart to reach out to the lost, espescially your family members! The Lord did the same to me! I guess it was about a year ago. I sent an email to my unsaved family members. I thought I would post it so you can maybe get some ideas from it. I went about it in a testimonial kind of way! ha ha Well, here it is.

My Dear Family,

There is something that has been on my heart for a long time now that I want to share with you. I just don't ever seem to get it out when we are together so I'm going to try to write what is on my heart. I have never written a serious e-mail before and it seems kinda weird but here goes.

Scott and I have recently stepped back and took a close look at our lives. We have always loved the Lord and believed ourselves to be christians. But something has happened that has caused us to look at our walk with the Lord and make sure we are in the faith. The Bible says to "examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith". The Bible also gives clear instructions on how a true believer should look and act. We have also had the reason for Christ's death, burial and resurrection explained so clearly to us. This is what I want to share with you! Really, there is no greater question we should ask ourselves then, "Are we right with God" and "Where will we go after we die?" O.K. This is a heavy e-mail, but please bear with me.

Ask yourself if you feel like you are a good person. You know I tend to think well, yeah I am a good person. I don't break the law and I love my husband and son. I try to be the best mother and wife I can be. I don't do drugs and neglect my family. The list goes on. But the truth of the matter is, am I good in God's eyes? God has a standard and how do I measure up against His standard? His standard is the Ten Commandments. If I have ever told a lie, I am a liar. If I have ever stolen anything (even when I was young) I am a thief. If I have ever lusted, I have committed adultery (Jesus said " Anyone who looks with lust has already committed adultery in his heart") The Lord showed us that the standard of God was not just the letter of the Law but the intent of our heart. If we have hated someone we are guilty of murder. And that is just four of the commandments. I realized I am guilty of every one of them. That is what the Bible means when it says "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

The Law, (Ten Commandments) was given to act like a mirror to show us how sinful we are and leave us knowing we should be condemned. God has every right to cast every one of us into hell. As a matter of fact, His goodness and righteousness compel Him to do so. We might think, God is a Good God, full of love and He would never throw someone into a lake of fire for eternity. But God's goodness is what will cause Him to do this. Think about this, How would we feel about a judge who had a child rapist standing in his court saying "You are right, I did do this horrible crime, but please forgive me." And the judge says O.K. since you are sorry for raping the child you can go free. How do you feel about that? Probably just like I feel about it. That judge is NOT good and should be removed from his position. The very thing that most people think will keep God from sending them to eternal punishment is the very thing that will send them there. His Goodness.

Because God is good and just He will judge the world in Righteousness. This is the reason for the Lord's death on the cross. He took the wrath that we deserve. God literally poured out His wrath on Jesus. He paid for our punishment! All my life I have gone to church and I don't think I have ever fully understood the cross and what it means until now! In God's eyes I am equal to the rapist, murderer, adulterer, liar, etc.... He sees my heart and knows I am wicked. When we repent of our sins (turn from them) and trust in Jesus we are brought into a right standing with God. The righteousness of Jesus is placed upon us and God no longer sees our wicked condition.

Well, that is the basic letter. I will pray for you as you write your family. I will pray for God to open thier hearts to the truth! God Bless!
