I saw this Ray Comfort video on Youtube

Jesus is speaking of the "works" (our witness, looking for his appearance etc) we do for him once we are saved. (after salvation) These merit eternal rewards, crowns, that we will cast before his feet.

Thats what I thought but I didnt want to say something because I wasnt 100 percent sure.

I dont know, thats what the guy said. Mybe he means Ray pushing the Bible and he doesnt know it b/c of that verse? But basically I just wanted to clarify what that verse was talking about.

I need to be clear on the question before I give a full answer.

Are you saying that the bible says we are saved by works?

Ray had stated that you are NOT saved by works, which is true. We are all saved by Grace through faith in Christ.

Works, however, come after salvation. One does not earn grace by DOING things..

Ooh! You're referring to the statement by macman13 (in the youtube video comments) from three days ago where *he* says Ray doesn't know what he's talking about.

Heh, the answer is above. Salvation isn't by works but by grace alone.

This place has a nice take on it, though I disagree with #4. I think that if you are saved that there will be changes in your life, but don't think those works are *required* to be saved. I think they're putting the cart before the horse there.

The salvation process is like a man sitting in a debtors prison cage set to descend into hell.

His debt has been paid in full and his cage is unlocked, all he has to do is stand up and walk out.

Standing up and walking out has nothing to do with the work that paid his debt for he cannot pay for himself while locked up.

His decision to believe it and open the door is his own free will or he can stay seated forever at his own expense.

Others can stand up and walk around the cage, the key is in escaping through the door before the cage descends.
