I will never watch anything Tom Hanks in it again after the movie DaVince Code. He should have never treated our Lord that way even if it was just a movie.

Consciously"Didn't read the criticism of Christianity" but you're curious and seemingly prepared to go see the movie? You already know what the gist is going to be. See how these little seeds of doubt grow.
First of all, the tone in your post is borderline judgmental, if not already there.
Secondly, I'm strong enough in my faith to discern between frivolous fiction and downright heretical material criticizing the basic tenets of Christianity. The book is mere action-fiction centered around antimatter, the Roman Church and the Illuminati. From what I read, there ARE no portions that book that criticize the Christian faith - only the Roman Church is put in an odd spotlight. There's a difference. This book is nothing like The DaVinci Code - in fact, the book was written first (in 2000) - the DaVinci Code came 3 years later - and I didn't read that book.
Furthermore, I never stated I WOULD see the movie. I said "I wonder if the movie will be anything like the book". Please don't put words in my mouth that I have not posted.
Lastly, as someone else stated - it's a movie. 99.95% of material coming out of Hollywood does nothing to promote salvation through Jesus Christ. If you don't like the movie is going to be about, then don't go see it. And if someone wishes to discuss the subject matter with you concerning Dan Brown's material, that could be an ample opportunity to share the Truth with the lost . . . making lemonade from lemons, so to speak.

If it's written by this charlatan Brown, it's a safe assumption the apple will not far fall from the tree. I don't care when it was written, this man has had an agenda. You can be assured the Hollywood treatment will emphasize an anti-Christian theme whether overt or more subtly. Don't patronize this garbage in any form.

I never read the DaVinci Code, but I did read "Angels and Demons". Not a bad read. I found it pretty harmless in light of the other book. It's more about the whole "science vs. religion" theme - the Illuminati vs. the Roman Church. I didn't read portion that criticized the basis tenets of true Christianity - but then again, I read it as mere action-based fiction. I wonder if the movie will be anything like the book.
I read the book years ago, and agree it was a pretty good page turner. It's highly critical of the Catholic Church and doesn't bring up any doctrinal issues (that I can remember). It's a much better book than the heretical DaVinci Code. Too bad that Dan Brown has tainted his reputation by writing garbage like the DaVinci Code. Man, reading that thing after Angels & Demons was a huge disappointment. I would have to assume that even unbelievers that bought into the premise of Davinci Code would find Code a disappointment after reading Angels & Demons.

Not in this instance.
I don't care when it was written, this man has had an agenda.
No agenda in this book, except that the Catholic Church is corrupt and ruled by a fanatical sect. And it does make a difference when it was written. I liked Angels and Demons, I hated DaVinci Code. After A&D I was looking forward to Brown's next book, and Code was a big pile of trash (and not solely because of the bad theology)

Anti-Catholic is more like it. And there is a difference between taking shots at the Catholic Church and taking shots at the Bride of Christ (the true Church).

I haven't read the books or watched the movies, but (correct me if I'm wrong). Isn't the whole point of the story of the first book that Jesus didn't die on the cross, but instead married Mary Magdalene, ran away to France, and had kids with her there?
Just on that blasphemy alone no christian should ever touch these stories with a 20 foot pole, ESPECIALLY those with shaky faiths as it is.

Like I say, let Hollywood get a hold of it (apparently it's finished except post-production) and watch what they do with it. Don't go to it, but watch the reviews.

NO. That is the DaVinci Code. Angels and demons was written before the DaVinci Code.
Angels and Demons is about the Illuminati, a secret society that is plotting the downfall of the Catholic Church. They have discovered a method of producing anti-matter in some quantity, have constructed a bomb, and are using it to terrorize the Catholic Church in Vatican City, which happen to be in the process of selecting a new pope.

The upcoming Tom Hanks/Ron Howard movie is about some rogue group called the Illuminati out to detroy the Vatican. Of course, as we all know, this is hogwash b/c the Vatican is not only a false religion, but they're also part of this sinister group as well.
Edit-wrong video put here.
Here's the new full length trailer detailing all this propaganda, FWIW...
