It's fiction. Some people enjoy it. I prefer nonfiction myself. Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings etc are just as bad as the book you are referencing but millions of people take their children to the theatres and buy them the books. The bookstores are full of books that are not biblically correct.

I agree. I read both books and to be quite honest, I thought they were BORING. Angels and Demons was written before The DaVinci Code. Both were boring enough to put you to sleep. The ending of The DaVinci code was horrible. The ending alone is reason enough to ban the book.

These books are not new though. In the early 80's there was a book written that had Christians in an uproar just like The DaVinci Code. There have always been books that Christians thought were "bad". I view it as a work of fiction and read it as such. It would be different if the Author stated the book was factual, but he does just the opposite. Brown made it clear, including his interviews on multiple tv shows, that his books were ONLY fiction. It is not the Author's fault if people choose to look at it differently. We all have the right to choose what we watch and/or read.

As I understand it, "Angels and Demons" was published BEFORE "Da Vinci Code"; both novels have the same characters, though. Interest in this book is high most likely because Ron Howard, director of the "Da Vinci Code" movie, is also directing "Angles and Demons" with Tom Hanks reprising his role.

I have no interest in either story -- whether in novel or movie form. (I do, however, like "The Lord of the Rings," a very good fantasy story.)

My wife and I both read Angels and Demons, it's been out for awhile. We read it just before the previous Pope died, and it was kind of odd because in the book there's quite a lengthy description of how a new Pope is elected, and watching it on the news every night was just like we had the other teams playbook.
It was entertaining reading, but should be taken as nothing but fiction.

It has a lot of Gnosticism in it I would avoid it.

The whole uproar over this movie/book (and it's companion, Angels and Demons) has caused me to pause and ponder a few things, and now I must ask a question which I hope will not offend anyone. I'm really curious, and I sincerely wish to know your opinions:

Why is the thought of Jesus having sex inside of marriage so troubling?

It seems to me that this is one of the main reasons that people take issue with this movie. I'm confused as to why people get upset over this topic because:
1. Sex inside marriage is Biblical
2. Jesus could've gotten married and had children to remind people that he was 100% man (in addition to being 100% God)

I suggest you watch this video . . . it says it all.

After you've watched it, and read the last 70 posts, let's talk.

I've listened to The DaVinci Code (I'm a fan of audio books) and really it is no more than a really big series of "what ifs?". It seems quite pointless to me to go about making changes to history for the sake of a story when the real and true history is far more exciting!

There were lots of pointless things in that book. Like the main character's claustrophobia which never has any important impact on the story. :doh

Right now I'm listening to "Snow Crash" and it has more of the same! False history and depiction of Christianity as a deceptive cult. But it doesn't come out with this until half-way through -- I wish I had known. :tsk I would advise Christians to ignore the good reviews on "Snow Crash" and pick something else off the shelf. :nope

Marriage is a huge responsibility. Jesus knew what his job on this earth was. I don't think he would have undertaken the responsibility of marriage knowing that he was going to die and resurrect (what would happen to his wife? or his potential children?).

Besides, as others have said, Jesus' bride is us, his church!

What would be some facts to prove the Da Vinci code wrong. I want to know some just in case someone asks me question on that and how to show its wrong. Thanks God bless
