Help Please

Thank you so much for the insight...it makes me sick to think my church is going in this direction. Please pray that God will give me the spirit of Wisdom concerning how I should react to this. I am so tired of programs that have no meaning, I want to hear a sermon, and see people walk the isle to come to Christ. What is going on with the Church today? I think I am a dinasour, could someone please explain what the emerging church, and the seeker friendly church are? I would appreciate it!

I attend Calvary Chapel of SLC and for our pastor "It's All About Jesus". He encourages all of us to bring our Bibles and reason together, from the Word. A seeker friendly church does sermons that don't offend anyone. As you are aware as a Bible teacher, sometimes the Word is offensive.:pray
You may have to take a look at finding a different place to fellowship. A place that does not do "Sermonetes for Christianets".

Thank you all for your replies, especially Sing4Him, I appreciate the time you put into your response. My wife and I have been talking about it for a long time, and neither of us are comfortable there. This stuff is not what the church is all about. It is too "slick" and the congregation has slowly changed over the past couple of years as the church has grown. I can see this new program "Faith In Action" as a way to plaster our face into the community. I wish the community would hear about us because a revival was taking place, not because we have implemented the latest church growth program...

Please pray for us as we seek God's direction as to what to do. I do not want to cause strife or division, but I know that I can't support what is happening anymore.

Praying for you Byrd. I had to "run" from a church that got into this too, it breaks your heart to see it happen. We have to keep the church in prayer everyday because there are so many "sheep crept in unawares".

What I did, was I took my concerns to 2 Church Leaders and let them take it to the pastor. The pastor quit but by that time, their teachings were so saturated with this Emergent stuff that they have lost all discernment for truth. I didn't want to cause divisions either, that is why I felt led to handle it Biblically as spelled out in Timothy, and I left the rest in His hands.

Thank you Biblenuggetlady for the encouragment...I have been praying about the course of action to take, and a close friend and I have discussed it at length because he sees the problem as well. My concern is that we have many friends there, and I do not want to hurt them by explaining why we have to leave, but at the same time, I love them, and do not want them to be mislead.

The Lord spoke to my heart a couple months ago, and said it is time to move on, and Iam praying about how soon to do it. I have to be obedient, but I don't want strife. I was a Pastor for 12 years and know what situations like this can do to a church. I recently resigned my S.S. class in preperation for the move, and that has caused many to ask why already. Please pray that God will give me the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the knowledge of Him concerning this situation.

Thank You so much again, as you can tell, I am very disturbed by all this. I have a great respect for the authority and integrity of God's Word, and do not appreciate it being mishandled.

:hug I truly weep with you. I totally understand. WE are warriors who stand for the truth in God's word. Our focus is on Jesus and the need for sinners to come to salvation through His death on the cross for our sins.

I understand your dismay and having to finally experience when a church is becoming apostate and following "another gospel", "another jesus", "another faith", etc. The feelings you are having is your Holy Spirit telling you you are no longer to have fellowship with darkness, and darkness is where they are heading. The have the changed the truth of God for a lie.

I think that you need to move on at this time and I would recommend you checking out a Calvary Chapel church in your area, as they are Bible-believing, Christ-centered, expositional teaching churches with no manmade doctrines or programs or philosophies.

BereanGirl, thank you for the wealth of information! Last night I began reading "A Time Of Departing". Big mistake, as I started it too late in the evening, and I could have read all night. I am meeting tomorrow with another man from the church that has the same "bad spirit" about our church as I do, and we will pray together, and bounce ideas off one another. I know that I have to go, but I also know that I have to speak to the Pastor about it. I do not believe it is right to just cut & run without giving an explination why and giving him an opportunity to perhaps turn things around. Wouldn't that be cool?

Do that but be also aware that if they do not agree with you or decide to abstain from this false teaching, then you are obliged to leave the church according to the scriptures and it is not you who is being divisive, rather them, who are holding to a form of godliness but denying its power.
