(buy a few more books and give them to your friends who have these doubts..of course firstly bring them to scripture and point things out)

another way to look at this situation is that you are placed in this church to help bring the truth back into the vision.....perhaps....
sounds like the path that the leadership has started to take has a life of its own now, but maybe if you pointed out some of these resources and provided some information about why this path is unbiblical, they may see the error of their ways and reverse their steps?
praying for you---praying that you have the boldness and courage to address this in a way that God guides you. and if it does not change the direction of the church, then i would venture a guess that you will have planted a seed of truth in the hearts of those who need to hear it...and at some point they will have the spiritual discernment that you do now...
i left my church after 5 years because they brought in this emergent church movement with a new pastor...he did not even hesitate to say he was a big supporter of it and spoke of the "dialogue" and the "communication" and the post-modern movement etc....it was unbelievable.....
i just pray that God uses you to offer the truth in the midst of this deception...

I spoke with my friend ar length this afternoon...and he is unwilling to help or be involved at all. He and I agree, but he does not want to speak to anyone about what the obvious is. He does not want to upset his wife, even though he has told her something must be done. The next few weeks will tell the tale, as our Pastor has posted his sermon topics; War and Peace; The Environment; Abortion; and Homosexuality. I do believe that the true direction of the church will be revealed in these topics, as there is only one Biblical answer to each. Thank you for your prayers and support, as well as direction. The full Armour of God is on!

I hate to say this but it seems that this church is heading into a "social gospel" mode which will not bode well for any Bible-believing Christian.
Scriptures warn us that the time would come where father would be against son and mother against daughter and in-laws against in-laws. Jesus also said that He did not come to bring peace but rather a sword, the sword being the Spirit of Truth of His Word. Jesus also said that any man having his hand set on the plow who looked back was not fit for the kingdom. He also pointed out the example of Lot's wife, who could not move on with her husband but instead clung to what she was familiar with.
Byrd, it has come to that time.... we are in the end times and there is no time for being ambivalent or leaning on other peoples' desires or lack thereof when contending for the faith. You have to think about to whom your allegiance is, to others or to God Himself. I understand the desire to want to fight battles and contend, but it is apparent that this church has its own agenda and it is just you who wants to actively fight this. You can knock yourself out but I tell you this... it will either exhaust you spiritually or cause you to become bitter, and that would not be good.
You have to lead by example and take a stand. This is war brother. Put on your armor and march to victory that you have in Jesus.
Please think about this. You need to attend a church that is solid, who appreciates and upholds the Gospel and the Scriptures and who is orthodox in doctrine.

Amen to that, and I am HISTORY! My wife & I visited a small church this morning, very friendly people, and the Pastor preached on the Blood Atonement of Christ on the Cross, and Salvation by faith in Christ....I was embarassed because it had been so long since I had heard anyone but me talk about this that tears rolled down my cheeks. The people around us probably thought I was under conviction! I was! We had talked about staying through the above mentioned sermons, because I think they will tell the true tale of the heart of the church, but this morning I decided I had had enough. My friend did not want to stand with me, and when I told him I was going to give the Pastor a copy of "A Time Of Departing" my riend said not to, that it would make him mad...

Bro, God answers those who diligently seek Him!!!! He did it for me and He will do it for anyone who truly seeks Him and His Truth!!!
Please keep up posted on how this church is doing. Also, you may want to post the location of the church for the benefit of others who are looking for a good church.
I am so happy for you!!

Byrd, praise God for defenders of the truth like you. I just ordered Roger Oakland's new book, Faith Undone. You might want to get a copy of that also. It's on his front page here:

It's been a LONG time since I have been in a service that brought tears to my eyes and I am one of those that never went to church without tissues. :(
Praying for you.

I must say it was refreshing to hear the Word of God. How sad to have to say that. As a side note last night my above mentioned friend called to let me know how the first week of the S.S. class that I resigned went...the new teacher told the class that I had gone too slow, and we would not get caught in that trap. Just cause it took us all winter to get through the book of Daniel, talking about all the propecies concerning end times.
There is a Calvary Chapel here that we will visit this weekend. I have heard you all recommend them, and I just looked at their website and they look good. I will keep you posted.
It is kind of wierd to know that people you have never seen are giving you good counsel, and support, but I appreciate it!

I can must surely vouch for them, as they are solid. Just make sure the one you are planning to visit is under Chuck Smith SENIOR and not JUNIOR.
JUNIOR has gone over to the emergent side. :shocked
