View Full Version : Witness to telemarketers!!

So, this telemarketer called yesterday. Droning on about a home security system offer. I tried to listen politely, though I said I’m not interested (sales calling must be a hard job, generally I try to be kind). The telemarketer got pushy, spouting all kinds of stats about home robberies and such. So I said, “Listen, do you know Jesus?” The woman stops dead in her tracks. She said, “Do you?” Emphasis on “you,” like I’m a total kook. And I said, “Yeah, I do, and I know that Jesus is my eternal security. Want me to tell you why?”
She hung up on me.
The next time someone calls you with a sales pitch… witness! We have something more awesome to “sell” than insurance, pest control, replacement windows, or home security systems! Maybe they will hang up but maybe we’ll plant a seed. :yay If they want to interrupt our dinner time to try to sell us something, then they can listen to us try to share the gospel with them...

That's my next thing to do... part of the online school: http://www.biblicalevangelism.com
I need to take the person through the "Good Person Test." A little nervous about it. I'll try to record it and put it on my site.

Good job! :thumb Personally, I've never been blessed with leading a telemarketer to Christ, but I have met several brothers and sisters when I began MY 'sales pitch' to them... :aha

What are you talking about? I'm taking a course online and said that it's the next thing in the class I need to do.

Amen...
And if they hang up on us, we can peacefully go back to our dinners & just say a prayer for them.
It's a win-win, as I see it. :)
And to be honest, I have never felt very good at witnessing, so this method is actually helping me be a little bolder. I think it was the first time I actually said to someone flat-out, "Do you know Jesus?" It felt great.

:hug I do this all the time, have done for years!! :yeah:yeah It doesn't matter what their selling, you can always bring Jesus into the conversation!!:nod Its great, either they get off the phone real quick and are not keen to call back :heh or I get some who ends up asking me questions about Christianity!! :yeah Either way it works perfectly!!!! :thumb

I went to the link, it said that folks could sign up for a course ($$) to learn evangelism, then you said you were going to put something on "your" website, ergo I thought the evangelism course website was "your website".
Sorry for misinterpreting it. :idunno Notice, I did not accuse, I just asked.
Tenn4, this is between Amy and I and she did quite well in answering for herself, but thanks anyway!:wave
